Alexanderplatz is very popular meeting point but it is better to avoid it in this pre-football days because it looks like a huge building-ground and therefore barely passable. The whole area is occupied by the machines for construction works and high cranes. Gloomy day, as it was during my visiting, makes it even more unattractive.
Berlin is really multicultural city. You can find there lots of races, colors, tastes and faces. Turkish, Arabs, Vietnamese, Chinese, Africans and more live in it. I took this photo of an 'Asian Look' kid looking into the camera, near Oranienburger Str.
There are scores of green, scenic areas all around Berlin. One of the most popular escapes from the big city is to go to one of the lakes. The Wannsee can easily be reached on the S1 and is just three stations away from Potsdam, so can easily be combined with a day trip to Schloss Sanssouci.
KaDeWe means "Kaufhaus des Westens" (Shopping center of the West). This biggest shopping center of the continent (excluding England I believe) was opened in 1907, and sells just about anything. It's pretty crowded though. Anything Probably a lot?
