An experience shared: The Museum Berlin-Karlshorst
by Bernhadette
The museum Berlin-Karlshorst focuses on the Second World-War and its impact for both the Russian and German participants. It shows how soldiers and civilians shared the experience of suffering, loss and death after the German agression against the Sovient Union in 1941.
Even though situated a bit off the beaten path in Berlin-Karlshorst (Treptow-Köpenick), it's definitely worth while a visit. Besides the permanent and contemporary exhibitions, there is an event in the commemoration of the end of World War II. each May 8th.

Absolutely Test-drink a Berliner Weiße mit Schuss
by Kakapo2
Berliner Weiße is a special wheat beer made in Berlin, with an alcohol content of 2.8%. Weißbier and Weizenbier are the German expressions for wheat beer, and this gives the “Weiße” the name.
Professional beer drinkers might be able to distinguish between Berlin’s wheat beer and Bavarian wheat beers or from whichever region they come from. I do not care. I mention this beer because no Berlin visit is complete without a “Berliner Weiße mit Schuss”, which means: Berliner Weiße with a shot.
Beer drinkers might shiver at the thought of mixing syrup into the beer but believe me: It is delicious! Even my husband who was sceptical at the start and did not order his own Weiße mit Schuss found it very enjoyable and refreshing.
Berliner Weiße mit Schuss is served in rather a big bowl with a stand. The Schuss is either green or pink. The green syrup is woodruff, the pink syrup raspberry – which is my favourite choice. You drink it with a straw – which leads to the result that you feel drunken faster than expected LOL Perhaps this is why real Berliners are against this way of drinking it LOL
Other mixtures are Berliner Weiße with champagne or Crème de Cassis.
More colors now!
by matcrazy1
Walking around Berlin I found a few appartment buildings in construction. They looked much more nice than the older ones grey tower blocks built say in 70' or 80' of 20th century which at least at Kreuzburg close to Hallesches Tor and Kottbusser Tor formed anonymous concrete jungle!
Now, they add more colors and more shapes to the newly built appartment houses as you can see on my picture.
Berlin's Prenzlauer Berg & its hipsters
by Maria250
Prenzlauer Berg is a former borough of Berlin situated in the eastern part of the city. In 2001 Prenzlauer Berg was combined with the former boroughs Pankow and Weißensee under the name of Pankow.
After German reunification in 1990 Prenzlauer Berg soon attracted young people, often referred to as hipsters, with its alternative lifestyle. wikipedia
