 | Berlin Reviews | Tips 11 - 20 of 496 | | Park Plaza is a good hotel, not too expensive with breakfast included. It is a bit out of town but with the public transport the city center can be reached in about 10 minutes. The U bahn is just around the corner. When coming by car, a close by parking is available.
Good bed and excellent breakfast. Rooms are comfortable, with all the necessary facilities. The rooms are big, with super high cielings, big windows, walls painted in an earthbrown/beige/orange give the room a cosy friendly look.
You live in one room of a beautiful "normal" 3 room flat, share bathroom and kitchen with the other guests. Very good breakfast in the bistro downstairs, very friendly guys run the place. I chose the Circus because of its great rate but it offered much more and I enjoyed my stay. Can't remember the exact rate for a dorm room, 15 Euros I think. It's run very efficiently by a group of young people who come from various countries but have lived in Berlin long enough to know the szene and everything. I got good advice on arrival as to where to park the car safely for a few days, a big plus right there! The next best thing is that there's no curfew. The staff is very helpful with maps and directions to what's not to be missed. They were most useful in making Hostel reservations for me at my next destination. They'll make sure you have a place to go to, even if it takes a few phone calls. There's a sort of kitchen area but I didn't use it. I prefer going out to eat when I can, it's a downer to watch everyone eating their spaguetti alone and somewhat morosely. The Circus will tell you of a great little café next door (Anna's or something) where they serve a good breakfast. Do go in there, even at night, it's a great place to meet people. Dorms are mixed and everything was fine. Internet station in the lobby. You can buy snacks and beer from the reception and everybody smokes. I only saw one ashtray though so be quick to grab it when you're starting a session on the Net. Great location, near Torstrasse, which has a lot of cultural activities going on, especially at night. There's a great repertory cinema on Torstr., within walking distance of the Circus (name to follow.) Got it! Nickelodeon * Kino, Torstrasse 216, Berlin-Mitte. The building on the pic is the People's Theater Association, apparently created by the Socialists between the two world wars. It was popular with directors, actors, personalities, and people in general. It's one way to find your way back to the Circus easily, as it's just across the street. It could certainly use some remodelling to bring the rooms into the current decade, but looks can be deceiving. Hotel Boerse has an excellent staff that goes out of its way to please its guests. The staff was very helpful with tips and information on how to find things in the area, and very knowledgeable about Berlin. Clean rooms, large windows, private bathrooms, TV, clock/radio, cabinets for luggage storage, a lift . . . pretty much everything you needed. Breakfast was excellent, although the dining room seemed small, so if you go during peak season you may have a small wait for a place to sit. I would recommend it highly--our room didn't look the best in the world, but for price and location it was totally worth it.
It is located on Kurfuerstendamm in Charlottenburg, which is a street that has some of everything for everyone. It is also about half a block from the Uhlandstrasse U-Bahn station. It is 3 blocks away from an internet cafe. Also close to the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedaechtnis-Kirche. For anyone who can't live without an Americanized meal, it is next to a McDonald's. This hotel was brought to my attention by robertgaz . So Robert, I hope you come and check out this place yourself one day :) If you're looking to stay in some extraordinary place, stay at the Propeller Lodge. The rooms are individually designed. E.g. there's a mirror room or a room completely in orange. Not quite sure what a Feng Shui Master would have to say... I didn't stay here myself though Leave a Comment
