Middle Class Hotel near Ku-Damm

I'm frequently staying at this hotel, because it's very close to a government office I often have to visit.

Unique Quality: Very friendly service, breakfast having become a bit worse lately. They have good disabled rooms, but they have their windows to the south, and there's a very loud street, too. With no a/c, it can get quite unpleasant in summer, you can't sleep with closed window and you can't sleep with open window.

Berlin Mark Hotel

The Berlin Mark Hotel is right in the heart of the city, only 5 minutes walk to Kurfurstendamm.

Tour buses left from the end of the street. Hard Rock Cafe was only a few doors away.

Unique Quality: Breakfast was included with the room cost and was a great selection of muesli, fruit, hot dishes and an assortment of bread. Even a chocolate on the pillow at night:-)

Hi

Does anybody know what this hotel is like?
How is the area that it's located in?
Is it a safe area particularly at night?

Thanks.

A while ago I had a conversation with two Americans who said it was pretty much ok. The hotel is in the close proximity of Kurfürstendamm, and the area is safe - a bit gay but safe. ;-)

I have stayed several times at this hotel. Good news, this is a decent, reasonably clean hotel with a good breakfast buffet, friendly service and a very good location. The area is very safe, there are all sorts of restaurants and bars nearby, plus of course Kurfuerstendamm, which is slowly re-inventing itself after it lost appeal after the new opening of the boulevards of Berlin-Mitte. From the Ku' damm you can get reach all parts of Berlin by public transport.

Downside is that the hotel's interior could use a makeover and some of the rooms face the south where there is a large and loud main road. Especially in summer, I found this quite annoying -- the hotel has no a/c and you just could not leave the window open due to the noise from the street.
