One of the cheapest
Berolina is situated in Charlottenburg in the west of Berlin, very close to the U Bahn, it's one of the cheaper places in Berlin meaning it's pretty much a place to wake up park your bags and explore the city. Facilities include free internet, ticket service and a 3 euro laundry.
Check out the rent a bike place around the corner to the right (Good value*)

Charlottenburger Hostel
I was in a single bed private room and the cost was $35 Euro. Rooms are very simple, sink, bed, closet (no lockable lockers), television. If you intend on watching television you have to leave a deposit at the office to get a remote control. They have internet available, first 15 minutes is free and then you pay after that. I made my reservation on the internet and received a reply within 20 minutes. If you book online you have to reply to their email to confirm the room, also if you are arriving late you can let them know at this time. I did not have breakfast, they had a couple of options available.
There are a couple of 'exotic' bars on the same street, didn't feel like that kind of area though. Decent pizza shop right next door. Big courtyard, possibility to see some of the more open locals.
Unique Quality: Nothing spectacular. Comfortable. Includes linens, blanket, pillow.

Cheap and basic hotel
This is a nice place, if you just want a place to sleep. I stayed here as a part of a trip with my school. Breakfast is served in a little breakfast restaurant and it is ok. The coffee isn't too good, but the rest is ok.
Unique Quality: The hotel is 5 minutes from the S-bahn and the U-bahn, so it is very easy to get to the citycenter.

Hotel-Pension Berolina along...
Hotel-Pension Berolina along Stuttgarter Platz 17 offers single rooms for 60 DM per night. Pretty good breakfast included. Accepts credit card payment and friendly English-speaking staffs. No bathroom in the room but there's a sink and a TV. Good thing is it's 2 mins walk from Charlottenburg train station where 4 S-Bahn lines cut through.
