We stayed for a few days sightseeing and going to a concert.
Whilst out of room, iPad was stolen from locked suitcase. Hotel/ police report shows only other access to room made by housekeeping.
Would warn people not to leave any valuables in room - small safe provide but have read other reports that these not secure either.
Hotel well situated for exploring but reaction to theft by hotel management poor and we are still waiting contact from their senior management and insurance some 4 weeks later.
Tiny Room-poor break fast- Internet not working for the 4 days we were over here.
Unique Quality: Location wise is not to bad.
hi, i will be in Berlin from Lisbon, next 30 Dec to 02 January2009.
What abou the weather in Berlin?
What kind of clothes and shoes?
Is it good the Hotel Best Western Spittelmarkt?
And the night life?
It's winter, and while there is no guarantee for snow, it will be cold.
For nighlife, try the areas in Mitte (i.e. Oranienburger St), Prenzlauer Berg (Kulturbrauerei, Helmholtzplatz, Kastanienallee among others) and Friedrichshain (most notably Simon-Dach-St.)
The hotel opened in October 2008, so I doubt you'll find anyone who can comment on it. The location is ok, could be worse, could be better.
Since you plan on spending New Years Eve in Berlin: If I were you, I would try to find an accomodation in the proximity of whereever you are going to celebrate December 31, so you can walk home instead of having to rely on public transport and drive home with some drunk weirdos.
Three ideas (one hotel, two simple pensions) you may want to check:
Thanks for your help!
turtle is absolutely right when he writes that you should find an accomodation in the proximity of whereever you are going to celebrate December 31, because many people are not able to cope with the situation that once a year they are allowed to use explosives. public transport is overcrowded + taxis are mostly unavailable on New Year`s Eve. Online you can find dozens of possibilities to party
