Cheaper than average hotel with friendly service
Like all capitals in the world the price of a hotel room can be expensive. I choose this hotel for 2 reasons, one it was a reasonable price and two as I had a hire car; it was situated very close to the Berlin Ring Road, which saved on parking charges and travelling time. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the buffet breakfast more than adequate for all tastes. There is a small bar for those who wished to partake but the restaurant was only open for breakfast in the mornings. It is possible to have food delivered but there was a couple of takeaways in the area serving pizza or kebabs, plus a bar and supermarket. I had a room on the ground floor, at the side of the hotel, and there no problems with noise, in fact you could hear the birds singing in the morning. I decided to use this hotel again in October 2007, but this time I was using public transport. Nothing much had changed at the hotel except there are now 2 free PC's in the reception area plus wifi in this area and in some rooms. The prices and service were as good as before. This time I had a room at the front of the hotel facing the street and noise was not a problem when the windows were closed, it may be more of a summer problem. The #50 tram stop is across the road from the hotel which has connections with the S & U station in Pankow. There are a numerous places to eat in and around the train station in Pankow during the day of evening. I have stayed at the hotel a number of times now and have never been disappointed.
Unique Quality: This is one of the cheaper hotels in the Berlin Area though it is located in Pankow to the north of the centre. It is not a problem as the #50 tram stops across the road and runs every 10 minutes and at the end of the day you have to travel to the various sights located around the city. Whilst there I only noticed 1 other english speaking couple and the clientele was mainly middle aged German couples, though the staff on the reception desk speak excellent English. This is a good value for money hotel and though not in centre it is well worth a few minutes added to your journey time to save a considerable amount of money. The hotel now offers a no breakfast option at a lower price. The flatscreen TV now includes BBC News 24 & Sky News and it is easy to connect a device to it. There are fridges in some room which contains various drinks and some chocolate bars. Other snacks and drinks are available in the reception area. Each room also has a hairdryer and alarm/radio. If you book directly with the hotel they will reduce your bill a further 5%.
Directions: Not far from the A10 Berliner Ring after taking the Pankow turn off. It is best to check the website for directions.
The #50 tram boarded from Pankow U & S Station, stops across the road for the hotel.
