We stayed here for 4 ngihts and were so happy. Everything was clean and neat and looked brand new. The staff were all lovely and were helpful with all our needs, not to mention the food and bar staff were very professional and friendly. We loved the free laptop for our room too it was very handy.
The location of the hotel was great. Close to the trains and bus, lots of nice shops and restaurants around, i dont think we could have found a better place. When i return to Berlin i will no doubt be staying at the Cirus once again.
Everything a Hotel Should Be!

I stumbled upon Circus when someone mentioned it in a review for a different hotel, and I am SO glad I did. Circus is everything I think a hotel should strive for. Friendly, clean, eco-conscious, well located, and above all, a great value. Our room (double, 88 euro/night) was spacious, spotless, and very contemporary. The bathroom, with it's rain shower, was top notch, and the beds were extremely comfy. My favorite part , though, was the bean bag chair! This was not the bean bag chair we know from long ago. It was probably three feet high and conforms to your body when you sit in it (you sink all the way up to your head!). Brilliant. Too bad I couldn't fit it in my suitcase. ;)
Breakfast, included in the room rate, was very fresh and more than enough food for our needs (though those with a bigger appetite can upgrade to a full hot breakfast for a small charge). And the staff were great. Everyone was polite and very helpful when needed.
The hotel's location, in eclectic Mitte, was also a plus. The Rosenthaler Platz station is just outside the front door, and it is only one stop from Alexanderplatz, where you can connect to loads of different lines. Also, there is a bus that stops just across the road that will take you to the main train station in under 15 minutes. Honestly, though, the weather was so nice, we walked almost everywhere. Berlin is very walkable.
We absolutely loved Berlin and were gutted to only have two days there. We will be back and will, without a doubt, be staying at The Circus.
A side note - due to our limited time in the city, we took a bike tour our first day with Fat Tire Bike Tours. We thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Our tour guide, Blakely, was very friendly and well versed in Berlin's storied past. And the bikes were all in great shape. A great value for the money (20 euro for a four-hour tour). It meets every morning under the TV tower in Alexanderplatz....just a ten-minute walk from The Circus. They are on the web.
Clean, stylish place in a good location, I would come back for sure!

I don't need too tell you too much about Circus Hotel, as everything you can read on their web site is true. The Hotel is brand new as it opende its door in late 2008. Rooms are nice sized (mine was a single but I managed to have a look at double rooms as well) and, if you get the chance to have a room facing the nice and cosy courtyard, you will hear no sound from outside. I particulary liked the wood floor, the large comfy bed and the rainy shower.
For 68 Euro per night for a single room (not a bargain, but it's good value for money) you can choose between three kinds of breakfast. Mine had two croissants with strawberry jam and chocolate, coffee, some fruit and orange juice, all very tasty.
As for the location: nothing spectacular, but very well positioned at just two metro stations away from Alexanderplatz (which is the main connection point of the East part of Berlin), which means in a few minutes you can be everywhere. The Hotel is literally a few steps from the underground station, superquick and supersafe if you come back late at night.
In Rosenthalerplatz, where the building is located, there are several take away restaurants and foodshops that stay open till late.
No doubt about it, one plus of the hotel is the staff: everyone is nice and helpful. I booked via Skype (see the website, you can even call from abroad for free), that was easy and quick. At the reception you can also get a free map of Berlin, while in the elevators you will find tips about events in town and even weather forecasts!
Unfortunetely, I'm coming back to Berlin in August but my friends have already booked elsewhere...Next time, anyway, for sure I will be staying at Circus again.
I never stayed there, but my personal impression is that the adjacent Circus Hostel would be a great choice too, if you're looking for something a little cheaper.
