I wasn't expecting too much from this hotel/hostel because even though I had booked several months in advance the room rates were very reasonable. It turned out to be very good value for bed and breakfast even though the beds were bunk beds. We didnt have to share the room and I felt the security was sufficient for our purposes.
The bathroom was fine - just don't expect all the little extras like soap and shampoo. You're not paying full hotel prices after all.
As somewhere just to sleep and to keep clean it was perfectly OK. Breakfast was continental and you could eat as much as you like.
One of the best features is that it just outside the Schwartzkopfstrasse u-bahn station. There are regular trains into Freidrichstrasse station from there so within a few minutes you'll be back in the heart of Berlin.
Also you if get a chance take a walk around the block. You'll come across a piece of the old Berlin Wall and running parallel to the street you'll also find a stretch of open land which was presumably part of the border between east and west Berlin.
If you're looking for something at the top end of budget accommodation I think this place will serve you well.
Unique Quality: Terrific value and great location for easy access into the heart of Berlin.
Opinion of Price: less expensive than average

City 54 Hotel & Hostel Berlin Photo: The Hotel/hostel City 54
We are a group of 4-5 college professors arriving on Celebrity "Eclipse" on Tuesday, May 24th at Warnemunde Germany. We would like to hire a private driver/guide to bring us to Berlin for the day, show us the sights, and return us to the ship at night. Has anyone hired such a person? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks so much in advance!

It might be worth asking the "Trabi Safari" people. They seem to offer all sorts of interesting tours and seem to be able to tailor things for small (and large) groups. http://cms.trabi-safari.de/opencms/opencms/trabi-safari/en/_main/home/index.html

There's a VIP service in Warnemünde offering exactly what you need. Their "English" website sucks noodles, though:
If there are 4 or 5 of you, I guess booking "Traveller Class" would be best as this would be the only class offering vans rather than sedans.
But consider yourself warned: Warnemünde - Berlin - Warnemünde, including sightseeing in Berlin easily fills a day. It's not going to be very comfortable.

Just in case you haven't realised that, Warnemünde to Berlin is about 250 km and will take you about 2-3 hours each way. If you don't want to spend most of your day on the freeway then maybe some alternative city like Rostock, Schwerin or Wismar would be a better choice.

... or Warnemünde.
I liked Warnemünde a lot better than Rostock.
Travel Tips for Berlin
The Wall
by Helga67
It is hard to imagine the existence of the Wall today, and all the trouble and deaths that it caused. There are still a few sections remaining and stories kept alive by means of photos or even parts of Wall being sold.
Parts of the wall have been preserved near the Reichstag and the Hauptbahnhof (central station). The longest part of Wall can be found at the "East Side Gallery". It stretches from Ostbahnhof station to the Oberbaumbrücke. Here, the wall has been painted in bright colours.

You can spend a complete afternoon here. Have lunch and a beer in Berlin's oldest pub and then look around the interesting craft shops and take some pictures of the statues, including the original Berlin bear!
Post boxes
by matcrazy1
There were quite many bright yellow post boxes put on streets of the centre/downtown of Berlin. Each contained two slits with explanations in German: 1. Postleitzahlen (post code) 10000 - 16999 (Region Berlin/Branderburg) - for letters to that region, 2. Andere Postleitzahlen - for letters to other regions including abroad.

we caught the wrong train by accident (in the wrong direction) and ended up in east berlin proper. walking through the (as yet) unrenovated station - we really got a taste for east berlin and how it really was -BETTER than the boring DDR museum
The best Cocktail Bars
by topaz_ about Gainsbourg
This nice and cozzy little bar really has a trendy but down to earth attitude. As the name of the bar refers to one of the biggest french singers of all time it also gives you the feeling that you are in the heart of Paris on a midsummernight. The cocktails are very delicious and served by a gorgeous crew.
Definetely a place to check out and perfect to start the evening. No jogging
