Weather and Transportation
by traveling_solo_2010
Hi,
I will be in Berlin in 2 days. Wonder how the weather is/will be. What kind of clothes you wear, chilly by night? jackets?
My hotel is Best Westerner am spittelmarkt, Neue Grunstrasse. Can you please tell me the best way to get to the hotel from Schoenefeld? which train, and what station to get off? I'm not lazy to ask, but after a long day and flying, and moving around with bags, I would rather know my way in advance.
Thanks a lot!!

BVG timetable

From: SXF
To: 10179 Berlin, Neue Gruenstrasse 28
Single ticket is EUR 2,80. There are many possible routes. Fastest connections are by regional trains to Alexanderplatz station and from there by U-Bahn U2 or Metrobus M48.

Thank you abalada! that was helpful.
one last Q, which station/stop is the hotel, or the closest to it?
Thanks!!
Re: Weather and Transportation

I fear not helpful enough. As the BVG timetable will give you the closest station/stop. There is also a map symbol for each stop and the final destination which will give you a street map with public transport.
Closest U-Bahn station is - big surprise: Spittelmarkt

Travel Tips for Berlin
Wheres the chemist on a Sunday?
by mccrorj
The Apotheke won't be open on a sunday!! You have to identify which of the cities chemists/pharmacies is on call. Remember hoever that when you get to the shop it will also be locked up. You have to use the intercom system which will be in the doorway. Press the bell and the pharmacist will allow you access. Also worth bearing in mind that there will be a small admin fee (two euros)
On time for lunch! I hopped on...
by Pegasus74
On time for lunch! I hopped on Bus 100 at the Reichstag stop to bring me to Zoologischer Garten. Of cuz I did not hunt animals for food there. It's the stop opposite to Breitscheidplatz and Europa Center where clusters of eateries can be found. But hay the zoo is indeed not too far away, directly opposite. Check out the scientific clock in Europa Center powered by pressure difference in interconnected tubes causing luminous green liquid to flow and fill up the hours and minutes bulbs to give time. Pretty interesting piece of instrument. The TIC in Europa Center offers hotel reservation service either at the counters with a charge, or you can search for accommodation and reserve online free via any of the four computer terminals.
The ruined Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedachtnis-Kirche in Breitscheidplatz is a church partially destroyed during WWII. The broken structure looks weird but unique and could have overlooked the Kurfurstendamm (or Ku'damm as the locals call it). This popular street is lined with plenty of surviving old buildings, cinemas, restaurants, chic shops and offices, and is dedicated to separating you from your Deutsche Marks!
I like to take Bus 100 which routes pass some of Berlin's main attractions. You just gotta hop on, sit back and enjoy Berlin. A little guide showing where it goes and what sights to watch out for can be obtained from the TIC. And that brings me to Alexanderplatz next, a showcase of Communist architectural 'kitsch' and so was many times up for redevelopment.
Dark green people of Berlin
by matcrazy1
I met these two people on my picture next to Jewish synagogue at Frankelufer 10-16 (Kreuzberg). They were watching and guarded the place.
The Berlin's police (polizei) was dressed like in the whole Germany in dark green uniforms. I was told that they are OK if you are OK :-). So, better behave in Berlin.
If you walk, new vistas...

If you walk, new vistas present themselves at every turn. Beautiful monuments, beautiful buildings, even beautiful natural landscapes with rivers and trees. This photo was taken near the tiergarten area and shows how peaceful this metropolis can look near the center.
Electronic Music + Dance
by vigi about Watergate Club
This 2-storey club has fantastic view over the river and bridge tower, and big light-up logo of Universial Music. Went there last Sat night, it was nice. Arrived at 1am, not many people. The crowd started to came in at 2am. We left at 4:30am and there're still people getting in. It was a cross cities DJs night, and different people playing live aid. The club was not as big as I expected, medium size. Love the ceiling lighting on the ground floor. There was a door man blocking people. I'm not sure about his choosing criteria, but seems like single man had problem to get in. I wore casuel, nothing fansy: jeans and boots and without makeup, but no problem at the door.
Cover charge: €10
Drinks: beer €3 / volka redbull €6.50 Chic & Comfortable to dance the night out.
