Where to go in Berlin in November?

by hfxcpl

We'll be in Berlin Nov.3 & 4 (Monday and Tuesday). This isn't the most touristy time to go, but we'd like to make the most of it. Any recommendations on places to see, restaurants to try...and most importantly - places to go out???

Lots to see in one of the world's great cities, just take all weather clothes.
In November we found it pleasantly free of crowds. Among many places of interest

Brandenburg Gate
Checkpoint Charlie
Berlin Wall Museum
Jewish Museum
Reichstag
Fernsehturm Tower (for views all over the City)

We stayed in Alexanderplatz in the former East Berlin and found it a good base. Underground, trams and buses all near.

Loads of excellent shops and restaurants. We found some good places to eat in the old Quarter near Rathausstrasse and the river, mostly local style restaurants. And of course the beer is superb!

the museum is good.pergammon altar there should not be missed.
you could make a day trip to sansucci palaces via potsdam.the boat ride and then a longish walk would get you there.it is a huge palace with a huge garden.dont miss the golden chinese tea house within the garden.it is really a great way to spend a day.
there is also a zoo in berlin,in case you are going with children
hope this helps,
vpas

Thanks for the info! Merci!

What about the night life? Where do you go out on a Monday or Tuesday night?

I would be cautious with recommending boat tours in November. The season normally ends at the end of October, the last ones I have seen for this year are on 2 November.

Correct.

November an February are possibly the worst months to visit Berlin, but here you go.

There are plenty of "Things to do"-tips here on VT. You would need to specify what you are after. Same goes for nighlife. Maybe check my profile and see if you find something that suits you, but again, there are plenty of tips already online. Generally speaking, the boroughs of Mitte, Friedrichshain and Prenzlauer Berg provide the most locations to go out at night.

Travel Tips for Berlin

Sit down outside the Kaiser...

by tom0990

Sit down outside the Kaiser Wilhelm Kirche and watch people go by. Getting horrible service at a cafe across the street from the Siegessäule on a beautiful sunny day. Watching the waiters get mad at non-customers wanting to use the restrooms while paying too much for a beer.

Winter warmer drinks!

by sarahandgareth

If you visit in the winter months, especially in the weeks leading up to Christmas, you’ll almost certainly stumble on an outdoor market or two (there are Christmas markets just off Unter den Linden opposite the Humboldt University, and in Potsdamer Platz). In among all the handcrafts and cheaper trinkets, there are usually plenty of stalls selling sweet things of all kinds. But if you’ve been out in the cold for any length of time, get yourself to a Gluehwein stand, where they sell the German version of mulled wine, warm, rich in spices and often with dried fruit. It’ll warm you up right down to your toes. There are usually plenty of other warm drinks – some alcohol-laden – on offer at the stalls, too, if the Gluehwein isn’t your thing.

A piece of the BerlinWall

by dirkkunze

If you want to pick your piece from the wall - you will get hardly any chance for that since the minor parts you can see are either in a museum or a museum for itself. Thats why I dont encurage you to do that, but there is a small piece left, covered by trees, not much guarded and probobly not a museum:
S1 - "Humbolthain" Station. Liesenstrasse - under the bridge where the S-Bahn goes... you might have to climbe for that.

Sony Center

by richiecdisc about Sony Center

I'll have to admit I'm not big on shopping so I was skeptical when Doreen insisted we go to the Potsdamer Platz. But I was really amazed at the futuristic architecture and even the Sony Center (space-age mall) was a jolt to the senses. There are some shops, probably very expensive and of course, some places to eat, where you could sit and watch the dizzying spectacle rising. I settled for a couple of nice brews in the convenient brewpub, Lindenbrau.
