Contact Lenses
by leanneedwards
I gound a machine at the airport where you could put in your Euro's and pick your prescription for contacts... they were limited in strength... but I was able to get my 4.25 strength right from the machine...
You can also find them in the drug stores on the shelf...larger variety of Strengths
As a contact wearer I am always worried I will lose my last pair and be blind for the rest of my trip...
I don't know if other places in germany have this convenience...
Museum Island -- Neues (New) Museum
by yooperprof
What is it? A new "Wrapped Museum" project by the conceptual artist Christo? Or simply another stage in the much-anticipated but painstakingly slow reconstruction of "Museum Island"?
It's the "Neues Museum" - which isn't really all that new, having been constructed in the 1840s to alleviate overcrowding in the "Altes" Museum. When it's all done, Berlin's Egyptian treasures (including Nefertiti) will be housed here.
Never ending rebuilding process
by matcrazy1
The old and new German capital was and still is in a constant state of flux which is well visible in mixed both old and modern architecture of the city. This phenomenon has accelerated since the fall of the Wall. Large efforts and money are now concentrated upon turning Berlin into an international metropolis, the new "capital of Europe".
For over the past decade, Berlin has been undergoing a major rebuilding process which is the best visible at Potzdamer Platz and Mitte. Even now, in 2003 that is over 13 years since the fall of the wall I could see quite many small and large construction works underwent in Berlin.
But I am sure that there was also a rebuilding process taking place less visibly - in the hearts and minds of Berliners.
Former checkpoint Marienborn at British sector
by Maria250
"For drivers entering the GDR, for example to visit relatives, formalities were stringent, for those in transit to West Berlin less so. Still, passing through here could be a frightening and intimidating experience, and sometimes there were very long waiting times. All this came to an end in 1990 when Germany was reunified and the GDR was abolished"

Beautiful spring collection
by matcrazy1 about Stefanel
There were many designs of pretty casual and more elegant clothes both for women and men. Take more time to choose what you like. Urszula liked their spring 2004 collection. This Italian company sells very nice casual clothes at reasonable prices. Average prices. For example T-shirts for 10.00 - 20.00 €.
