Howdy,
I'll be back in Berlin in a couple of weeks and was wondering how the S-bahn trains are running now. Especially the vital S-9 which I normally take to get from the airport to downtown Berlin.
Any new developments? Is the S-bahn back to normal?
- Skull!
According to their website, all lines are running again, calling at all stations. See http://www.s-bahn-berlin.de/aktuell/2009/260_english_ab08september.htm
The site also has current maps of the replacement services, but it seems like S9 is running as normal.
All S-Bahn lines are back to service. However not all S-Bahn cars are yet back into service. This means: partly less frequent than normal, partly with shorter trains.

Here we have a new development. Due constructions works at Berlin Ostkreuz the S9 is not serving the city center for the next 1,5 years. S9 goes no from Ostkreuz via the Ringbahn to Blankenburg.
An alwys up-to-date network map

Thanks for the update. Now I know what to expect. Looks like I can hop on the S-45 and travel the ring line directly to the Messe.
Brilliant - Jay

Besdies there is a wonderful garden in the castle area. In the northern part of the garden there is wonderful pond where you can feed ducks. I like gardens and parks and I spend 1 hour around there. It's pity I didn't buy bread and just looked at people enviously who fed ducks :-). In addition the view of the pond and the castle is great too and you can see it on the picture.
This famous landmark was built for the 1936 Olympic Games by architect Werner March. Now it is the home to the Bundesliga team Hertha BSC. When buying a ticket for an event here your public transport will become free before and after the event!
Berlin spills north and south of the Spree River, which winds through some of the magnificent parks which cover approx. a third of the municipal area. There were a lot of canals which formed water ways crossing the city of which the most important was Landwehrkanal. There were many, different boat tours on the river and its canals in offer of each Berlin tour operator.
A former bank vault that has since been converted into a dance club, Tresor is a perfect example of German nightlife. First, no one dances with each other -- everyone dances by themselves in little circles. Second, you can always tell the American girls, because they're clutching their handbags in fear, despite heving them triple-wrapped around their torsos. Third, the music is heavy techno, so be prepared. Still, it's a good time, as long as you don't interact with people.
