More about Honigmond Hotel

Traditional German Cuisine

by Docu2001 about Honigmond

It was December ... the days were short and the light was precious. It felt as if the light was being rationed in Berlin that winter ...

In the Honigmund the light was soft and golden and emanated from the candles on each table. The food was just as it should be ... simple and creamy and satisfying and just the stuff you need inside you when you trudge out into the winter cold ....

good 3 or 4 stars hotels in Berlin

by Alex_71

Hello to all the vts..i'll be in Berlin with my gf for some days during august, exactly from 11 to 15 of august. Can you, please, suggest me some good 3 or 4 stars hotels in Berlin? I'd prefer hotels in a quiet (but safe)area. I don't care if they are in the city center, if it's easy to reach the city center by bus or by tube.
If you have any other tips about Berlin (for example restaurant were to eat real local food and not tourist food) please let me know, or here in the forum or to my mail
Tnx to all
Alex

i don't have any hotels to suggest, but as far as food, you'll be in heaven here! you can find just about anything in this town and the quality is pretty high (trust me, i'm a total food snob!) most of berlin within the s-bahn ring (look at a map of the metro system here, you'll see it clearly) is pretty safe, some more than others...but definitely can't think of any 'no-go areas'. there are numerous places to eat in prenzlauerberg in the northeast area of town...actually way too many to even start to list. and also on oranienstrasse in kreuzberg. these are just two of the places that i can think of off the top of my head. also, now that i think about it, another place for good ole german food is a place called honigmond near oranienburgerstrasse (not the same as nor near oranienstrasse)..and they also have a hotel upstairs too!

Travel Tips for Berlin

the Berliner way

by miromi

Berliners have their own way of doing things, and are my favorite type of german, although they are famous for being exceptionally rude and nasty, which is just the way I like it. nobody would really have it any other way! New york is my favorite american city, after all! if someone starts screaming at you on the street it#s ok to scream back at them and then tease them and break the tension--you'll get more respect and show that you are becoming Berlin! i would take care not to mess with the little old ladies though, they are ruthless.

What many people forget when...

by Silverstar

What many people forget when they are in Berlin is searching one of the famous Trabant cars. They aren't anymore on the streets, but surely have a place in the Berlin history. When the Berlin Wall was pulled down, it also meant the end of Trabant. Legendary cars!

Antiques in Kreuzberg

by matcrazy1 about At Bergmannstrasse

There were a few stores with antiques on both sides of Bergmannstra?e, main shopping street of artistic district of Berlin called Kreuzberg. Their owners used to put some stuff especially furniteres outside on a walkway. Antiques: furnitures, silver, jewellery, books, china, glass, lamps and clocks. Prices were not at all fixed up. Try to make a good deal.

Bus # 100 or # 200

by divandrea

Bus #100 and #200 are just normal public busses that drive by almost all major sights. So for a normal fare (details on fares, timetables etc. under www.bvg.de) you can do an entire city tour without the troubles of a guided tour. And with a day-ticket you can even hop on and off as often as you like. An easy way to explore Berlin for the first time (and the second and the third and...)
