I gound a machine at the airport where you could put in your Euro's and pick your prescription for contacts... they were limited in strength... but I was able to get my 4.25 strength right from the machine... You can also find them in the drug stores on the shelf...larger variety of Strengths
As a contact wearer I am always worried I will lose my last pair and be blind for the rest of my trip...
I don't know if other places in germany have this convenience...
