visit the Museuminsel. This island in the Spree concentrates some of the most interesting buildings in the city: museums, parks, the cathedral, the Statue of Marx and Engels...
There are plans to destroy the Palast der Republik (former GDR's parliament house) in order to rebuild the old Schloß of the Hohenzollern. Please don't do it!! The Palast der Republik is beautiful and certainly more valuable than the replica of a Prussian castle. The stylish Palast is a genuine sample of socialist architecture with a unique design and Berlin would never be the same without it. Enjoying the sunny summer days in the Tiergarten (Berlin's main park) or in one of the many lakes that surround the city.
Die Weltzeituhr

The world time clock is situated between AlexanderPlatz and TV Tower. It was a long time I was searching it because I saw it in the map but I couldn't find it. Then I saw a guard man in the building sit and ask him how to find it. I just needed to turn round the corner :-) The clock was built in 1969 as a part of AlexanderPlatz complex. The idea is to show time in the world cities. AlexanderPlatz was the place in Eastern Berlin and there are cities of the former Soviet Union on every time zone onto the clock.
Koppenplatz Holocaust Monument
by iblatt
In the small public park of Koppenplatz, in a quiet residential area, the East German government erected in 1988 a modest but eloquent monument to the deportation of the Jews under the National Socialist regime.
It consists of a bronze table and two chairs, one of which is thrown upside down. Furnishings of a room whose inhabitants had to leave in a rush, with a suggestion of violence.
Life goes on on the square, people are reading the paper on benches, a couple is holding hands, but this small monument reminds them and us that something is missing, some people are missing, were taken away never to return.
Not renovated yet

Although Germany and Berlin spent a lot of energy and money to renovate neglected areas esp. in former East Berlin and close to former wall there is still a lot of to do. So, Berlin still is a city of contrasts which I found very interesting.
Not far from the most modern and "high-energy" Potsdamer Paltz I could find neglected areas like on my picture taken from the S-bahn train somewhere in Mitte.
Great club and lounge
by nyxxx about Weekend
Right on Alexanderplatz, this is another great club with mainly house and electronic music.
Very interesting mix of people, not the typical "wannabe stylish" kind or drunk teens from surrounding villages etc.
There's a bar in the center, surrounded by dance floor, lounge area for sitting down - and since on 12th (or 15th?) floor it's an excellent view. None
