Berlin for Christmas

by ronrc3

Hey guys, going to Berlin for Christmas - reach on Dec 23rd - fly out of Prague on Dec 30 th, so am wondering how to split my time between the 2 cities, although the more I look at it, it seems my time should be heavily weighted towards Berlin?

travelling solo - have booked into Wombats City Hostel as the location seemed optimal and it seemed to be a social spot. any thoughts?

Also, what do you lot think I should focus on in a 4-5 day trip in Berlin?

Much appreciate your thoughts.
Ron

Hi!

Do 1-2 day trip to old city of Poznan. Poznan is large city that has amazing old town, it has Christmas market and great traditions of Christmas. It is very easy to travel to Poznan by train (route Berlin-Warsaw).

Have a nice holydays!

With just 4-5 days I would not recommend any trip besides Potsdam.

Wombats plays not in the top league of Berlin hostels.

a) start with one of the offered walking tours
b) Christmas Markets of course
c) whatever fits to your interest (architecture, history, art, shopping, ...)

Travel Tips for Berlin

Beautiful Berlin

by nigelw6443

Berlin is best seen in the spring, summer and autumn. The city boasts one third of it's area is made up of water and forest. Where ever you go in the city you will find a nice park with lakes and plenty of woodland. Sitting in a beer garden by the lake watching the world go by.

go to Volkspark...

by zys1

go to Volkspark Friedrichshain.

The park was originally planned by P.J.Lenne. Noteworthy is the Fairytale-Fountain by lgnaz Taschner, built in 1913, to be found at the entrance of the park.

( NOTE: IT is one stop of bus 100, you can arrive this place easily by bus 100.)

Bootsführerschein für Motorboote in Berlin

by blueknight1980

Die NAUTIK Sportbootschule bietet allen Kursteilnehmern die Möglichkeit einen
Motorbootführerschein zu erwerben. Zur Auswahl stehen dabei zwei verschiedene Bootsführerscheine:
- der Sportbootführerschein See

Lovely porch/entrance

by matcrazy1

Usually there were not any characteristic entrances to the old buildings along Berlin's streets. I mean, I didn't find any typical stairs, porches like say in San Francisco (victorian style houses) or Amsterdam. Usually there were just normal doors, sometimes decorative portal.

But I found this lovely porch/entrance in the building at Momsenstraße 5, district Charlottenburg, north of Ku-damm (U-bahn: Uhlandstraße, U15).

Techno, anyone?

two levels of intense fun... the downstairs is just completely insane...ly fun! while upstairs is a good place to dance and chill out to. we were Berlin for 5 nights, and we there twice, wednesday and saturday night. it screwed up our wandering, as we didnt get back to our hostel till 6:00AM. are you serious? well, i guess one should wear light clothes, as you'll sweat the night away, and wear shoes that are comfortable for a night of DANSE, DANSE, DANSE....
