Fantastic!!

Stayed here as we disliked the first hotel we booked. Found it on the webpage of the association the hotel is a member of.

Everything was fantastic during our 2 day stay.

Great and friendly service. They were ready to take our bags from the car and the check in staff were quick and helpful for tips on what to do.

Rooms are modern and nicely decorated. Try not to get a low floor towards the courtyard as the bar is there and it was a little noicy - minimal.

Breakfast was very good and lookec nice. They have decorated the restaurant with Starck vase lamps which are pretty cool
Good location

Unique Quality: Service, decoration

S-bahn ?

by Red_Star_Nightmare

Hey, Im going to be staying at the Generator Hostel in Berlin, and Im not sure how to get there from Schoenefield airport? Can I get on the S9 all the way to landsberger allee? or do I have to switch a train?

thanks

Re: S-bahn ?

From their website;
Schönefeld Airport
To get to Generator Berlin, take the S train S9, direction Blankenburg and get off at LANDSBERGER ALLEE

Unless you're arriving during the middle of the night, it's simple.

Re: S-bahn ?

by abalada

BVG timetable
http://www.fahrinfo-berlin.de/Fahrinfo/bin/query.bin/en
From: SXF
To: S Landsberger Allee

There are also other options, but the S9 is the only direct one.
Single ticket is EUR 2,80.

Travel Tips for Berlin

go to Brandenburg Gate.

It is Commissioned by Friedrich Wilhelm II to represent peace, the gate was ironically embedded in the Berlin Wall and firmly locked for the duration of Communist rule. The gate now symbolises reunification and stands majestically in the centre of Berlin physically joining the two sides of the city.

( NOTE: IT is one stop of bus 100, you can arrive this place easily by bus 100.)

Language of a street

by matcrazy1

Sometimes graffiti are real art, sometimes just voice of street, sometimes both. They are often painted by unknown authors and against the law (art crime ?), sometimes local authorities designate usually neglected walls to be cover by graffiti as a kind of decoration. Never mind the local law, I think it's always a kind of local culture.

In Berlin I found different kinds of graffiti at a few places esp. in Kreuzberg district which is artistic and... a little bit underground and crazy part of Berlin. These one on my picture I found in Kreuzburg at Admiralstraße. By the way, "Deutschland, halt" means "Germany, stop!".

On weekend mornings and early afternoons, visit one of Berlins flea markets (Trödelmärkte), which are great even if you're not looking for anything to buy.
some adresses:
Strasse des 17. Juni (S-Bahn to Tiergarten)
Arkonaplatz (U8 to Bernauer Strasse)
Treptower Hallentrödel (inside; U1 to Schlesisches Tor or S-Bahn to Treptower Park)

Metres of beer

by nigelw6443 about Marcusbräu

This rustic little brew pub offers typical Berlin/German food they also brew their own beer and burn their own schappes! Order the metre of beer and enjoy the surprise!

What I like about this place most of all is the excellent beer...but also it always seems to attract an interesting crowd..don't miss the Flammkuchen, which is a sort of pizza except the crust is much thinner and you don't get the pizza toppings but a special cream cheese with ham and onions is especially tasty! No special dress code in effect!
