Where in Berlin are you going to stay?

Tiergarten Park which ranges from Zoo Station to Brandenburg Gate would be an idea.

In the center there are a number of parks, e.g. the already mentioned Tiergarten.

In the outskirts Berlin is a really green city with lot's of forests and lakes.
A nice running route is e.g. this one along the Havel

~ 7 km one way. Both ends can be reached by public transport.

Hi there,
it would be very helpful to know in which area you will stay. There are so many parks and so on. I don´t know which I should suggest.
Best wishes from Berlin,

Travel Tips for Berlin

Bridge

by Rude_boy22

There was a crazy guy playing the accordian very well in front of this ironwork on this bridge. I didn't want to ask if I could take a picture of him, he seemed to be in a state where he might have been dangerous. He played well though.

Bauhaus, art style and school...

by stijn_swinne

Bauhaus, art style and school from 1920-1930. Purpose was 'design for everybody'. Shocking with it's modern look and design. The school was founded at Weimar, later moved to Dessau. Walter Gropius, the founder, was very proud at his anti-academic way of teaching. The base of the Bauhaus educational
program were the many workshops. There the students were trained in creativity and learned from many
artists to develop their own style (Johannes Itten, Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky). visit the bauhaus
school and museum in Dessau and learn the extraordinary history of the bauhaus.

The extermination camp of...

by CubsIn4

The extermination camp of Sachsen-Hausen may not be a very cheery destination, but it's an important site historically. It was first used by the Nazis for political prisoners and later by the Soviets for German POWs. It's a very grim and emotional reminder of the harm done to the German people by both the Nazis and the Soviets.

Sleek stuff

by nomadig about Porsche Design

Porsche Design flagship store on Kurfürstendamm has a wide range of ultra-designed items on its shelves. The variety can boggle your mind: shoes, luggage, pens, pipes, pocket knives, glasses, and host of other items.

Everything has been designed with the same principles, and it shows. You can mix and match any and every item with something else in the shop, and they look like they have been designed as a pair.

Porsche's design is based on form follows function principle, but it has its own twist with dark materials accompanied with metal. It may not be for everybody, but I sure liked it. Too bad that most of the items are hugely expensive.

Taxis may not accept VISA cards

by kylamees

From Tegel Airport to Estrel, South berlin it took about 20 km on the circle road around Berlin. And - surprise - the taxi driver didn´t accepted My credit card! I had to pay cache. And as I heard from others, they had the same problem. may be we were too nordic people from Scandinavia and Baltics, were paying by card is very common. Taxi driver from city to hotel told us, that germans don´´ t use very much cards for paying in cab and it´s not profitable for taxi driver to pay fees and rent for equipment when 2-3 passengers per month are paying by card. So he took us to ATM for receiving cache.
Bill from Berlin Tegel airport to Estrel hotel was for EUR 32.
