Central location
I like this small hotel because of the nice rooms and the friendly staff.
Unique Quality: The Hotel Hackescher Markt is located next to the S-Bahn station wiith the same name.
The Subway is also easy to reach.
The whole area around has lots of small restaurants with very individual personality.

Hackescher Markt - not just for shopping
This historical shopping area is really worth a visit, even if you have no intention to shop. The architecture is stunning: an interconnected series of courtyards with beautiful ceramic facades, wonderfully restored during the last decade.
Hackescher Markt
Hackescher Markt's main claim to fame is its S-Bahn station. Constructed at the height of the railway boom in the late 19th century, with a red-tiled facade, mosaics and rounded windows, this is one of Berlin's most attractive stations. Originally known as 'Bahnhof Börse' (Stock Exchange Station) because of its proximity to the Berlin Stock Exchange, the square in front of the station was renamed 'Marx-Engels-Platz' by party apparatchiks during the socialist era.
Oranienburgerstrasse & Hackescher Markt
There are basicly two really nice bar areas in the former east Berlin. One of the areas is between U-Bahn stations Hackescher Markt and Oranienburger Tor.
In Hackescher Markt there are couple of bars, for example a pretty good irish bar (although you don't want to come to Berlin for an Irish bar;). Walk from there along the Oranienburgerstrasse and you will find a lot of nice little bars. My favourite is just in the end of Oranienburgerstrasse (near the Oranienburger Tor). I don't remember the name of the place, but it is decorated with black & white pictures of old Berlin, and very cozy feeling. It is usually full of locals, spending their time with each other and drinking good, cheap beer. Wear what you want, just have an open mind.

Pubs with Setanta / Old Firm Game Sat 5th May
Hi
Was wondering if someone could help?
My boyfriend and I are going to be in Berlin during the Old Firm game (Celtic v Rangers)on Saturday 5th May and are looking for a pub to watch the game in, the pub would have to have Setanta TV.
We will be staying in the Mitte area but would be willing to travel outwith.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Both are located in Kreuzberg.
There's one well-know Irish pub ('Kilkenny', if memory serves) directly at 'Hackescher Markt' S-Bahn station which is in Mitte and very easy to find.
You could ask if they are going to show the game.
