Good Place in Berlin
We just came back from a week's visit to Berlin and had a very good experience at the Palace Hotel. Stayed in one of the beautiful new suites with great views. Hotel is in great location & getting around city from there is a dream. Spa & pool fabulous. Hotel is in last stage of "polishing" itself since renovations and new management. Gracious, friendly staff, but(because it was January?) the concierge desk was not always manned, and the young front desk staff was not up to the job. (Didn't know how to phone a restaurant if it was not in their computer system, did not know about a place listed in all the English guidebooks, etc.) Biggest complaint is breakfast: 20 euros per person for either room service or large buffet, with nothing in between if you just want coffee and toast. They should include breakfast in room price to avoid problems and leaving a sour note at check-out.
