The Pankow Hotel is located in the northern district of Pankow. There is a convenient tram stop just outside the hotel. It is an unpretentious hotel with clean and airy rooms. The rooms are cleaned daily and the towels and bedding changed on a regular basis. There are direct dial telephones in each room. Though there is a 24 hour reception desk you are allowed to keep you room keys which also give you access to a side door if you arrive back late. The night bus stops outside the hotel. The hotel even provides details of the night bus & tram services as well as tourist information. The buffet breakfast is the usual offering for German hotels, but there is enough variety to suit most tastes including some hot food. You now have the choice of not taking the breakfast and saving 7euros. The only two things that may cause guests problems are the traffic/tram noise if the windows are left open and the hotel only accepts cash for payment. The hotel does offer simple hot and cold drinks that can be purchased in the breakfast room. It now provides cold drinks and snacks in the rooms. There is a simple café 100m away that provides the usual offering of kebabs, pizza & chicken, some English spoken. Across the road there is a 24 hour garage where food can be purchased and there are supermarkets in the vicinity. Though the hotel is out of town I timed it one day and it took me just 18 minutes from getting on the tram outside the hotel to getting off the underground train at Alexanderplatz.
The staff at this family run hotel are very friendly and go out of their way to help you have a pleasant stay.
