This statue stands in the middle of 17th June Strasse in between the Soviet War Memorial and the Brandenburg Tor. It was erected in 1990 right after the Berlin Wall fell and on the site where President Reagan made his famous "Tear down this wall" speech. It is of a woman yelling and the inscription reads "I go, I call around the world freedom, freedom, freedom."
Berlin is special in regard to newspapers, it is the only place in germany, where the yellowpress' marketleader, BILD, has a serious competitor, the B.Z., which claims a considerable share of Berlins yellowpress readers. Many Berliners even buy both papers.
The war between the two papers is fought hard, with each trying to top the others headlines, also as many newspapers are printed in Berlin the next days issues will allready be for sale by young men with large bags full of newspapers, that are allmost everywhere, when people come home from work in the evening.
While there are no newspaper-vendingmachines you can take advantadge of this army of paperboys, getting tomorrows newspaper today.
When I walked through the city center of Berlin, I saw statues of bears everywhere. On every corner of the street, in front of hotels, and dozens at "Unter dem Linden". Hahaha, I thought they were so much fun, I have made quite a few pictures of them... so here they are!!!

I have tried to add the name of the bear, artist and location to most of the pictures. But for a few of the bears I haven't found the info yet.... so if you recognize the bear, and know it's name, please let me know!!!
One of my favourite shoe shops in Germany is "Schuhtick" - a fancy shop in Berlin. Shoes! They have everything from stylish to classic - and most of them at a fair price! This place looks more expensive than it is. You can sometimes get good bargains here!
Oh yes, ... The Juleps is a bar and American restaurant in the style of the legendary New York's Speak Easys of the 20ties. Pretty cool. A choice of more than 120 cocktails and more than 150 Whiskeys, Whiskys, Vodkas and other liquors and spirits. They also serve Cajun food and sometimes play real cool blues there ... also in winter a good place to spend some hours and meet some cool guys in the night there ... Enjoy ! Relaxe and be yourself !
