this site could help you
>>>nice area to explore the city<<< Berlin doesn`t have 1 center, so travel around, check out Ku┬┤damm, Mitte, Kreuzberg, Prenzl`berg etc

Could you perhaps be a little more specific? After all there are plenty of tips online here on VT.

As for a nice area to explore the city from: Mitte or Prenzlauer Berg. Two or three reasonably priced accomodations (hotel, hostel, guesthouse):

Travel Tips for Berlin

Maps online and in Berlin

by matcrazy1

Before starting my sightseeing around Berlin I got two free maps from my hotel reception:
- quite detailed (1:20,000) map of Berlin central districts including Charlottenburg, Tiergarten, Mitte and Kreuzberg (on my picture), with many points of tourist interest and U-bahn/S-bahn stations marked,
- schematic map of U-bahn and S-bahn network issued by BVG (available at newstands/ticket offices in each metro station).
Both were very usuful while I was walking around.

Berlin maps online:
1. BVG Berlin map online with search address, zoom in/out options and bus lines/stops marked;
2. clickable map of Berlin with a lot of options.

Beer is tasty and cheap in Germany. There's a wide selection of Schwarzbier available in supermarkets (Kaiser's and Edeka, for example) just for 70-80 cents. Pretty much all Schwarzbiers are a good go. Dark cherry beer is worth tasting, too. If you want light lager, Berliner Kindl is one of the most popular choices. I also hoped to meet my good Belgian friend Stella in Berlin, but she wasn't there. Fortunately, there are many black replacements to miss Artois in Berlin :)
It's absolutely OK to have a beer on an S- or U-Bahn train in the evening, so enjoy it on the way back wherever you sleep!

Kirche am Lietzensee, 1957-1959

by Kathrin_E

A plain and simple modern pentagonal building with a remarkable effect. The tent-like ceiling, covered with dark wood, rests only on the tips in the corners. The walls towards the lake are completely made of glass to open the view into nature. The slightly opaque glass, however, turns simple trees and clouds into a transcendent altar piece that changes with the seasons.

Date: 1957-1959
Architect: Paul Baumgarten
Confession: protestant

Address: Herbartstra├če 4-6
Location: Charlottenburg, on the western bank of the Lietzensee lake
How to get in: open in the daytime

Flohmarkt Mauerpark

by dlandt about Flea Markets

This was kind of a cool place to visit. A friend of mine and I went here to see if we could find a good used bicycle for a good price. We couldn't. the flea market here doesn't have a lot of good bargains. Cookbooks sell for new book prices. Knickknacks aren't bargainable. Used clothing is nowhere near as cheap as it looks, but the place has charm. I got the impression that people didn't come to the flea market so much to buy and sell, as to socialize. Given that not many places are open on Sunday, the only day of the week you can visit the market, it makes sense. They have vendors selling beer and sausages, and tables where people sit and socialize. Oddly enough, even for less cosmopolitan Berlin, it seemed everyone was white. I did well with a few books and some sausage. Depends what youwant. Prices weren' that good.

A good address to take off for your noctural barflight. The Mutter is cool and relaxed and the guys here serve a veriety of good drinks as well as best Thai food and Sushi so that it's easy to start the engines and buckle up for the barflight through the nights of Berlin ...
Enjoy ! Be yourself !
