Beauty on the Spree
by marcelatimmins
If you get lost in the city, the beauty of it is you'll always find something that catches your eye.
As I got lost around Oranienburg Strasse, I discovered some interesting things. A bridge crowned with the prussian eagle and the forgotten town Long walks, the coffee and the bratwursts
Museum Island -- Pergamon Museum
by yooperprof
Despite its neo-classical (and much weathered) exterior, the Pergamon is actually the most recently constructed museum on the island. It was completed only in 1930. The museum derives its name from the great altar of Pergamon that has been intelligently reconstructed in its central hall.
The Pergamon Museum houses collections of Greek and Roman antiquities, Near Eastern Antiquities, and Islamic Art. I didn't get a chance to see it on my visit - maybe next time.
Weather, walking shoes...
by matcrazy1
For walking around Berlin, small, city backpack and surely bag for your camera - both water-proof (as on my picture). Comfortable walking shoes preferrably water-resistant: like good trainers or better special walking shoes (one example: Danish Ecco are very comfortable and... expensive but worth the cost).
Sun-glasses esp. in winter and summer and always a rain coat, eventually less comfortable umbrella.

Asia Feeling in Berlin . . .
by Karin1S
Every Sunday you'll find the asia community in "Preusenpark". Take a little time, sit down on the lawn, eat some of the home made cookings, take a coke or a beer and relax . . . enjoy the sunday in Berlin!!!!
Preussenpark is close to U-Bahn "Fehrbelliner Platz" (you can go into the park from Wuerttemberger Strasse)
A fun way to see the hot spots
by argentia about New Berlin Pub Crawl
Backpackers who don't really know which spots to hit up in Berlin and/or are looking to meet new people and/or really just want to get drunk for pretty cheap should consider doing a pub crawl. We went with the New Berlin company, which meets up in Hackesher Markt around 7pm. The group has 2 guides who take you to 4 different bars and one nightclub. At each bar there are drink specials for the group...and did I mention the guides pass out free shots of vodka schnapps in between? The whole night costs 13 euro and is really a lot of fun! Pretty much anything goes with this group.
