enjoy the multicolored...
by Pegasus74
enjoy the multicolored graffiti created by 118 artists on the 1.3 km long Berlin Wall fragment. Located along Muhlenstrasse accessible from Ostbahnhof or Warschauer Strasse S-Bahn station, this segment is today called East Side Gallery, the world's longest art gallery. The most impressive perhaps is the one with Honecker (the second last man to rule GDR who was in charge of building the Berlin Wall) and Breshnew (the Secretary General of the CCCP/USSR who unfortunately did not get to live to see the events of 1989), sealing the scar with a kiss and crashing their S-Wagen into the Wall. That was I thought a breakthrough! Named Bruderkuss this is found on the 'West Side' gallery.
Another segment of the Wall that remains is the 200 m stretch along Niederkirchnerstrasse, which marked the border between East Mitte and West Kreuzberg. Next to it is the open-air Topology of Terror museum built on the site of the dreaded SS and Gestapo headquarters where numerous Christians and other opponents of Hitlerism were tortured and murdered during the Nazi era. The exhibit in German is housed in what used to be some cells in the basement of the Gestapo complex. An English catalogue is available for 15 DEM (can't recall if it's more).
Friedrichstrasse
by bugulma
Friedrichstrasse is the longest street in the central part of Berlin, 3 300 meters long, from Friedrichstrasse railway station in the North to Checkpoint Charlie in the South. in the same time I think it is the most popular place for shopping. At least all famous trade marks I found walking along the street.
Tacheles
by tauroctonia
Ok, maybe this is now already an established touristy spot included in every guided tour, but there are still some things to discover. Tacheles, looking a bit like a ruin, is maybe less original than it used to be a couple of years ago, but it is still a creative oasis.
It is home to many artists, a cinema, several bars and an outdoor area offering beer, occassionally concerts or, as during the world cup 2006, open-air screenings. If you want to buy some out-of-the-ordinary art, even postcards or t-shirts, get them here on the 2nd and 3rd floor.
Branderburg Gate Museum soon?
by matcrazy1
I found this neglected but just under recounstruction house at the corner of Unter den Linden (No 10-11) and Schadowstraße very close to Branderburg Gate. Johann Gottfried Schadow, German Neoclassical Sculptor (1764-1850), creator of the Quadriga put on the Brandenburg Gate lived and worked there. There was commemorating table put on the building.
Maybe they should open Branderburg Gate museum there when they finish to renovate the building. It would be great location close to the Branderburg Gate and they could display some other than Quadriga works of Schadow, old and new pictures of the Gate, show movies and tell the story of the world's famous place and edifice. Bad idea? Just my dream :-).

Visiting the city and seeing the nightlife.
by Kodi01 about Zoologischer Garten
I got off the bus at Zoogarten and was amazed at the many people. There is so much to see and do here.
It is a lively place in Berlin. Lots of stores, cathedral, Mercedes Benz (sorry that pic did not turn out), many places to eat and of course the cinema.
