 | Berlin Hotels and Accommodations Reviews | 231 - 240 of 275 | | I don't know what this building served as before 1989, but Uwe and his wonderfully friendly staff have created a fun place to stay. No elevator from the ground floor to the reception, but elevator does operate from ground floor to floors with rooms. Many of the 18 rooms have separate (and huge) bathrooms across the hall. All of the rooms seem to vary in size, shape and price.
The best draw to the Riverside are the location, price and hotel staff. You are a few steps from Friedrichstadt Palast, I could see Museum Insel from my room window (4 blocks), and with a rock you could hit Friedrichstrasse Banhof which will take you nearly anywhere in the city! Uwe is now working on creating a spa area on the ground floor facing the Spree River. A family run business with extremely clean rooms, friendly and efficient staff, nothing extravagant, the perfect hotel for family groups or business travellers. Not to say that others wouldn't be interested in this establishment, but it is not exactly in the centre of the city, the neighborhood is rather quiet, and if you are looking for clubs, disco parties and such near your lodging, try another place. But if you want a comfortable hotel to get away from such, where you can sleep disturbed when it's time for it, be extremely close to public transportation to get to you more popular spots, Hotel Bernhard is perfect! We arrived early from our Trans-Atlantic flight, therefore we couldn't get the keys for my flat, and with a younger child and my mother, footsore, overtired, jetlagging, who asbolutely refused to take another step or suggestion that we simply have a coffee at some café and wait, I convinced them to step over to Hotel Bernhard and see if any rooms we available so they could at least wash and rest for the next hours. We were fortunate, they had rooms available if we just cared to step into the parlour while they were prepared. Like sitting in your grandmother's house, we waited quietly in the yellow painted front room, and we greatly relieved when shown upstairs to our 3-bed room. Soft, well-pressed linen, a wide window with a view of the south Wilmersdorf area, a mini-bar, television and shower/bathroom. In the room we had, not sure of others, the bathroom was quite small but all that we needed, clean and neat, no feet of growing bacteria. Care and attention was evident in everything here. Most important to me was the lift, as we had heavy suitcases which were soon stored in the well polished shranks provided.
The hotel is like the website, should you visit it: clean and neat, with no more than you need, but nothing less either. Hotel Bernhard a great example of German efficiency and personal attention to visitors. 25 rooms total with 54 beds. So a smaller hotel, but A class service. Rates are currently (subject to change, of course): Single, 50€, Double 60€, 3 Bed Room 70€. Breakfast is included in this price, but remember there is also a 16% VAT charge. Our end total was around 100€. We overslept so missed breakfast, which presumably cleared away before 10am. **Also, anything removed from the minibar such as juices, beer, or alcohol is also included in your bill.** Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Bernhardstr. 9 10715 BerlinPhone: +49 (0)30-857 58 30Directions: Less than a minute from the door is Bundesplatz station, where you can take the S-bahn train around the "Ring", as well as U-bahn line 9 Rathaus Steglitz/Osloer Str. Loved loved loved this hotel! The room was spacious, with great big beautiful windows and a nice big en suite bathroom... Very clean. Comfy beds. GREAT and lavish breakfast--best layout we had on our four week trip! Also, you CANNOT beat the location! It is literally one step off of the Ku'damm--it's literally on top of couture shops! I'm not sure, but I think it was above Sonia Rykiel, but it may have been Hermes. Anyway, great location, and should you be stuck around the hotel one day, great window shopping... Leave a Comment

The last time I have been in Berlin I stayed in Berlin/Spandau, right in the middle of the lovely old town... The hotel has a very familiar atmosphere and the staff has been very friendly.
We had a lovely double room overlooking the Breite Strasse, one of the main streets in the old town. It was very pleasant to have the tube station right next to the hotel. I have stayed in this relic from the GDR era several times. The price simply cannot be beat, the rooms are clean, the breakfast good, and the location ideal. The proprietor is anything but cordial and outgoing, but she is courteous and responsive to requests. The location is great: near many attractions, including Unter den Linden, Oranienburgerstr., restored synagoge, lively bars and restaurants, Humboldt University, museum island, and Alexanderplatz. I have spoken only German here, but one of my e-mails was answered in broken English, so I'm sure it is possible to commuunicate in English.
Great value for the money; highly recommended. When I arrived at this hotel from tha airport by train, I was very surprised to realize that the hotel was exactly inside the train station! For this reason, it was very easy to visit the city, because I had the transportation waiting for me out of my door!!! But don't be afraid: the rooms are very quite and isolated, so you can sleep well without being annoyed by the rail traffic! In general, a good quality hotel.
The Intercity Hotel is situated in the most peaceful and beautiful surroundings, making it ideal for both the business and leisure traveler alike. You are in the east side of Berlin, near Alexander Platz and not far from the typical Kreuzberg quartier. Very useful the transportation card given by the staff at your arrival, that allows you to travel by every city public transportation completely free of charge during all your stay in Berlin! Stayed here for 5 nights in Oct 2004. Very satisfied but don´t go if you need concierge services because they owners and staff are not around much. You get a door code and you let yourself in: not big on giving lots of tourist info or assistance. If you are independent traveller who can plan and execute your visit, this is a quiet self-reliant type of hotel.
Nice buffet breakfast, near Brandenburg Gate and Potzdamer Platz. Clean rooms, but they are all on the first floor.
