123berlinzimmer.de: Good web site for accommodation

I used this site to book our accommodation in Berlin. The site looks a bit messy, but the service is quick and good! There are lots of affordable apartments on this site and the booking is easy. Once you make a reservation they send you e-mail which you have to confirm to finalize the booking. After your confirmation they send you contact information of the land lord. I had no problems with the site nor with the landlord, so I would recommend this to all.

Our clean and cosy 32-m2-apartment was in Prenzlauer Berg. The linen and towels were included in the price, we paid 160 € for 4 nights. The neighbourhood was nice and pretty quiet, yet there was lots of cafes and restaurants nearby.

EBAB (enjoy Bed & Breakfast): Appartment accomodation

I staye once in one of the appartments they offer around the city center. they are well kept and tidy, some of them have breakfast and is a good option looking at the hotel/hostel prices. You can check them in their web page or go to their office at nollendor platz where you can get your appartment in just 30 minuts! they usually open every single day and untill late (10 pm even on a saturday) so if the city is full and are tired going from one hostel to another just go to their office and you will get your lodgement easyly!

The appartments are located around the city center on every quarter of the city, they belong to particular owners that rent their appartments on dayly bases. they are all furbished with kitchen, bathroom, and you have your own key, so so don't have problems with curefews like at some hostels and the prices for 2 people are fair, if you stay longer sometimes you get a reduction and the more people you are the cheaper it is.

Lette'm Sleep: Lette'me SLeep Hostel

Right in the heart of the Prenzlauer Berg artistic section of Berlin, where cafes, restaurants, dives, clubs, and bars preside, is a typical bakpacker hostel with very spacious welcoming rooms furnished in light woods; a bright comfortable common room with cooking facilities and internet access; and two-bed rooms that even have living rooms and kitchenettes. Most rooms sleep up to six people. Baths and toilets are along the corridor, except the two-bed rooms which have their own. Central to just about everything, and a friendly staff. However, make sure you leave by check-out time, or they'll get hasty with your departure. Lettestrasse 7, Berlin, Germany. Prenzlauer Allee stop. www.backpackers.de. 030-44-73-36-23. Maritim ProArte Hotel -a SNR Hotel: I'm going to say 400.00 euro a night

Very fine, not bad...but a bit to rich for my blood. There is a swimming pool on the 5th floor so you might want to bring your swim suit the water is great even in the winter time, it's big enough to swim laps, the breakfast room is WOW!! an all you can eat buffet, and they have a very nice bar by the main desk.

They fold your nightgown every morning, but it has to be messy on your bed.

Mercure Hotel Residence Checkpoint Charlie: Near a historic point

Very comfortable and well located hotel in Mitte about a km from Friedrichstrasse Station. Close to Potsdammer Platz and within an easy stroll of the Brandenburg Gate. Hotel has a free internet comp in the lobby and the rooms are very nice. Staff are very pleasant and helpful.

Its right beside the former location of Checkpoint Charlie, most famous of the crossing points in the Berlin wall.

Hotel-Pension Merkur: Great Value Pension in Berlin

I have stayed in this relic from the GDR era several times. The price simply cannot be beat, the rooms are clean, the breakfast good, and the location ideal. The proprietor is anything but cordial and outgoing, but she is courteous and responsive to requests. The location is great: near many attractions, including Unter den Linden, Oranienburgerstr., restored synagoge, lively bars and restaurants, Humboldt University, museum island, and Alexanderplatz. I have spoken only German here, but one of my e-mails was answered in broken English, so I'm sure it is possible to commuunicate in English.

Great value for the money; highly recommended.

Tentstation: A Camping Site Near Main Station? Yes.

A mere five to ten minutes walk away from Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Main Station) is Tentstation, a camping ground on a former public pool ground. You can play Badminton in the former pool or watch movies on their projector.

You can bring your tent or rent one at Tentstation for 4-6 Euro per night. They'll charge one Euro for an iso mat per night if you need one.

Prices:
10 Euro p. p./night
Children 12 to 18 pay 8 Euro.
Children up to 12 spend the night for free.

A camping site within walking distance from Berlin's Main Station - if that's not unique ...

Mercure am Checkpoint Charlile: Berlin's best value

I really liked my stay here. The rooms are huge, the beds are comfortable, the bathroom is huge, the breakfast is great, the staff is friendly, and the location is fantastic. This hotel is located about 1/2 way between the Museum at Checkpoint Charlie and Unter den Linden with 2 U-Bahn stops within 5 minutes walking. The breakfast buffet was fresh with a huge selection. The rooms are very modern and done in a very soothing theme...very minimal artwork etc. The bathrooms were huge and had everything you would need...I have been in other hotels where the room itself was smaller than the bathroom here. And the best thing about this place...the price. I paid 85 Euro per night...this included the tax and daily breakfast! Almost a steal in my mind.

Winter's Hotel Berlin Mitte: Excellent new 3-star hotel near Checkpoint Charlie

Stayed here from Sept 14th to 16th. The hotel is brand new as it opened on Sept 1st, 2006. I was a bit worried the hotel would be partially functioning at the time we arrive... There were still some minor works (painting etc) being carried out, but nothing that would compromise our stay.

If the smell of a freshly painted place bothers you, I would rather avoid this hotel for a good while.

The hotel is 2-blocks from Kochstrasse U-bahn station. It is across a residential building, so it is pretty much in a quiet area.

The woman at the front desk was very nice and helpful. She first asked our names, then a photo ID and to fill out a card with our names/home address/phone. She then asked our credit card to be photocopied. We said we would rather pay everything right away if there wasn't any problem (We didn't want our credit card to be photocopied. You never can be too cautious about those things, right?).

Our room was on 3rd floor and it faced the street. It was big for European standard (maybe that's why we bumped into many Americans at the hotel...) with a clean-modern decoration (unlike their website pics, our room was decorated with red and white colors) . The queen bed with 2 duvet covers (one for each person - excellent idea, so you won't be fighting over it while sleeping) was very comfortable. The pillows were too soft for our taste, so we had to bend it to get a good night's sleep (unfortunately no extra pillows in the closet). Don't forget to close the windows, otherwise you will be cold at night. The flat screen TV offered free 25 channels, I believe, most German channels, but with international channels such as BBC, CNN and France 5.

The bathroom was small but spotless clean and well-equipped with hair-dryer, magnifier mirror, liquid soap and hair & body shower gel.

We paid 75 Euros per night. I think it was a good deal.

Big room for European standard. Excellent location. Near Checkpoint Charlie.

Sytler Hoff: The Hoff

I arrived late and was met with a couple of lively staff who were very plesant and polite.

The room was a little small but i was staying in a single and i'm used to the middle eastern hotels with huge rooms and balconies etc... i think that the room compares to many london hotels in size.

Everything worked the bathroom was nice, although there was a funny smell coming from the plumbing.

The hotel uses a normal key system with a large weighted fob attached to it that you drop off at the reception when you leave.

The bed i have to say was a little small. I don't understand it personally because (being completely stereotypical here) the average german height is quite tall. But it was comfortabel and i had a good stay there

The positioning of this hotel is great. It's quite far from schoenfeld Airport (about 20-30 minutes) but a taxi ride will cost you about 30Euros (nearest station is Wittenberg Platz) from Tegel Airport it's a little bit closer, about 15 minutes away with a taxi ride costing about 15-20 Euros

The area that the hotel is actually in though is right in the centre of the shopping area of the city. although far enough out of the way not to be too noisy. It is close to the area called "ku-damm" which is basically the equivalent of oxford st in london.

Grand Hyatt Hotel: Grand Hyatt Hotel- Berlin

My six night stay in this hotel was very enjoyable. The hotel staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. If you are one of the lucky ones to stay on the 7 floor-Crown level then you get a open bar from 8pm-11pm( I think).

The hotel is within walking distance to Tiergarten(park), Mitte district, Holocast Memorial,Reichstag(German parliament), Brandenburg Gate.

There is a small business center with only one computer. The airport is within 9 miles.

Olympus Spa&Fitness located inside hotel. There is also a gym with modern machines and swimming pool.

There are 3 resturants located within the hotel: Vox, Dietrich Bistro, and Tizian.

www.ebab.de: Bed & Breakfast is the way to go!

We decided not to stay in a hotel but in a bed & breakfast! These are very cheap and you can find some great ones on www.ebab.de. there you will find a great selection of available B&B's that will cover for 2 people around € 40 per night , per room, so thats € 20 per person...very cheap and they are very clean and nicely decorated.

Good thing is also that you get the keys and have all your privacy with a little kitchen and bathroom.

Ebab is a B&B for gays and lesbians but if you are straight and dont mind then it isnt a problem to book through them ;-)

Not far from Alexanderplatz: NH Alexanderplatz

This hotel was very convenient as there were several trams which takes you directly to Alexanderplatz. There was also the bus Nr. 240 which connected conveniently to the train station Ost Bahnhof.
I must admit after breakfast we just disappeared returning only in the evening to enjoy the sauna and steamroom facilities before retiring to bed.

Jjust opposite the Volkspark Friedrichshain a wonderful green area to jog or just relaxing walks.

At the end of a tiring day of sightseeing it was just wonderful to use the sauna and steam bath before going out again for dinner.

We booked this hotel together with our train ticket from Basel to Berlin

Mitte's Backpacker Hostel: great place

The stay was absolutly amazing. The staff was really friendly, the price was about $13 USD, they do have a safe to hold onto your passports and any other important documents. there is no curfew and there is always someone at the front desk. The facilites are cleaned everyday, everything is extreamly clean. there is no elevator so climbing to the 6th floor can be kind of a *** when your really drunk. Even though the climb sucks i still highly recommend this hostel. Even its location is interesting its actually located in old East Berlin near the Large train station construction site. Its really easy to get there, you can get there by taxi which will run approximatly 10 euro if you come from across town. The Train system is very intense and can be overwhelming for some, but takes you to almost any place in the city of Berlin.

You are in East Berlin which i think is just so facinating, even after 60 years you can still see the difference. Ehile walking around the city you can see marking on the street where the wall used to stand.
