by yamats

Hello Everybody,

It will be my 1st time to visit Berlin. I would really appreciate if you can suggest the best way (and safe)to go to Lietzenburger Str in Charlottenburg from the airport at 11:15 in the evening. There will be 2 of us with 2 big bags. Thanks a lot in advance for your help. yamats

Cab---shouldn't be all that expensive and it's safe.

Lietzenburger Strasse is quite long, you should enter a number or find a station close to your accomodation.

While public transport is usually safe, a Taxi cab would be more comfortable.

Hi,
you can take the bus TXL from the Airport to "Bahnhof ZOO" from there it's only 1 or 2 km to Lietzenburger Str. - and you can take the taxi (approx. 5 Euro)
- OR- you take the taxi from the airport to Lietzenburgerstr. (approx. 15 Euro) i think it's more convenient.
Greetings from Berlin

Travel Tips for Berlin

Europa Center

by magor65

Europa Center is a big modern shopping centre with plenty of boutiques, restaurants and cafes. There is one place inside that attracts tourists, especially those with kids and especially at full hours. It's called 'Uhr der fliessenden Zeit' ( the clock of passing time). The clock consists of a complicated system of glass pipes and balls filled with colourful liquid. The time is indicated by the balls ( 12 big ones for hours and 60 small ones for minutes) filling up with liquid. It does look spectacular.

Red Town Hall (Rotes Rathaus)

by Mandy23

It is also called 'Berliner Rathaus' and was built 1861-69 in place of the 1270 constructed town hall. It owes its name to the red bricks of its walls and is the official seat of the mayor of Berlin.

Address:
Rathausstr. 15
10173 Berlin-Mitte

For 'grounded' plugs, the "Schuko" plug and receptacle with side grounding contacts is used (see picture)

The receptacle will also accept the not-grounded plug shown in the previous tip.

If you want to stretch your recent history experience a few years beyond the Cold War, hop on S1 and head for Oranienburg. What you'll find there is a concentration camp of Sachsenhausen - not as well-known as Auschwitz or Dachau, but equally moving. Well worth a few hours.
