Meininger Hostel Great Place Great Service

Hello I'm staying in Berlin right now, it's a wonderful city, lots to see and do. Been here for 5 weeks (doing an summer internship), starting to become a bit of a local. But I'm staying at the Meininger Hauptbahnhof hostel. Great location (right next to the Hauptbahnhof Central train station, and great customer service. Since I've been here so long I've been fortunate to get to know many of the employees pretty well and they've been telling me about some of their new promotional activities. I'd check out their facebook page sometime (they just started some new social media campaign) they're supposedly going to start offering deals/giveaways solely threw this page:http://www.facebook.com/pages/Meininger-Hostels/119635998081839?ref=sgm . Hope you have a great trip, Berlin has so much to offer.

Lowest price but very good service!

I think this hostel is very worth the money! Not too many beds in one room(8 at most), and every room has a bathroom besides a common bathroom on every floor. Individual lambs and electricity for every bed, so you can do what you want at night without disturbing others who are sleeping. 24 hours reception so that you can always turn for help if you need. The lounge is well docorated and offers a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. The buffet breakfast is perfect!

Unique Quality: I love their buffet breakfast:) Various of bread, cereal, drinks...

Pleasant, clean hostel in Schoneberg District

I spent two nights here back in June 2006. On the whole it was fairly clean, modern looking, and quite affordable. The only downside is that it isn't located in the immediate center, but it is quite accessible by metro. At the same time, Schoneberg is also known for it's cafes and bars.

Good value hostel in Schoneberg

While the first hostel I stayed in, the Circus Hostel, was very much in East Berlin, this hostel, Meininger 10, was in a typical West Berlin area, Schoneberg. This is a lively district with plenty of shops and bars, and is best known as the place where US President Kennedy made his famous "Ich bin ein Berliner' speech in 1963. The hostel itself was a lot quieter and less friendlier than the Circus, but with breakfast, linen and a private room all for 29 Euros, I didn’t mind so much.

Meininger10-More Quiet Accommodations

Meininger10 was the original, 12 was the spin-off, as well as the one at Tempelhofer Ufer, but I found I like the 10 better in some ways. It was in a neighborhood area with more flats and small businesses, slightly off the main thoroughfares, and was more quaint in a Germanic sense. The rooms were slightly lower at 12.50 for a domitory, and 42.00 for a double private room. Room on the backside of the hostel looked into a peaceful courtyard, and were extremely quiet. When we stayed, the hostel was rather empty however, so if there are larger groups staying, expect more noise.

Breakfast is included with your booking, use of the lounge area, but internet access has a fee, and snacks, drinks and beer available to be purchased, and a friendly staff with knowledge of basic English.

Unique Quality: I live in this part of Schöneberg now, I so much liked the area, its along a quiet street but with many cafès, restaurants and parks nearby. Shopping is convenient at local markets, whatever you might need. Plus it is not so very far from more exciting, popular locations.
