A communal kitchen, bike rentals, internet access and laundry.
Unique Quality: Quite a bit of imagination has gone into the decor of this well-established hostel. The rooms have unique themes, such as the Arabic Room and the Underwater Room.
This hostel is in a very accessible area (Mitte), with lots of restaurants, cafes, and nearby public transport. The hostel is lively, and has about 20 uniquely decorated theme rooms. The main floor has a common area with tv, internet and a bar, and cool music. Staff are super-friendly.
The rooms are nice and comfortable. The washrooms and shower on our floor ranged from clean to kinda smelly, so bring some shoes to wear in the shower if you can.
Anyways, it's a really upbeat and cool place to stay, and the theme rooms are a great idea!!
Unique Quality: Really cool theme rooms, and an upbeat, fun and friendly atmosphere.
Directions: From Berlin Ostbanhof or Zoo Station, take the S-Bahn to Freidrichstrasse. From there, transfer to the U6, direction "Alt-Tegel". Get off at Zinnowitzer Strasse, and exit the station the same way the train goes. Walk 100 m, and it's on your left side.
This place is really really good!
It´s not located exactly in the centre of Berlin (although Berlin has three centres...), but it´s really easy to get there....and well worth it.
Mittes is located in east Berlin, in a quite calm & nice suburbian part of the city. The prices depends on which time of year you are there, and how you want to live. The cheapest option is their dormroom (13 Euros) but they also offer single & doublerooms for really good prices.
Unique Quality: Mittes has a reception with very helpfull staff, computers with internet and alot of informationmaterial about Berlin.
They can also lock in your bags and belongings if you want to....cost free.
Another good thing is all the people that pass by & live her. You´ll meat alot of backpackers & traveling people that´s easy to talk with in the lounge-area at the reception.
Directions: Take the U6 Subwayline (towards "Alt-Tegel") and hop of at the station named "Zinnowitzerstrasse".
From there it´s just a 1-2 minutes walk straight ahead.
