Does it have to be a hotel? There's plenty of funky hostels in Berlin, not least the famous Generator.

Last year I stayed at the Art'otel City Center West by Park Plaza. It is a 4 star hotel and quite affordable. It is a 10 minute walk from the Zoo station and is in a safe place. I booked the hotel through booking.com.

Hi there,

the Generator hostel is booked out at the dates you mentioned.

Try www.pegasushostel.de

Site also available in English.

They have just doubles but you can book them for a single person, too.

Rooms from 48€ with shower and toilet on the floor and from 60€ for ensuite bathroom.

It´s in Friedrichshain, which is avibrant district of Berlin. Near Alexanderplatz and Prenzlauer Berg(another district).

Friedrichshain is great for partying. You have everything in a walking distance, clubs and stuff. And the hostel is in a more quiet area.

Great staff, clean rooms, nice atmosphere.
A lot of my friends stayed there.

Just check the website.
Hope they are free for the dates you mentioned.

Best wishes from Berlin,
Stine

Travel Tips for Berlin

Go Shopping along Ku'damm

by Audrey118

ooh - there is so many shops along Ku'damm...it is mind boggling.
There is the Europe Centre and the is a nice restaurant called Tiffany in there...and there is so many huge stores to offer. and every corner you will see more painted bears.

The Arts II

by grishaV1

Another nice theatre that has good acts like Johannes Burr, Maren Strack and Johan Lorbeer, Howard Katz Fireheart is the Theatre at Halleschen Ufer 32. Very new and modern performances. Very eclectic! Rosalind Crisp will also be performed with the famous Raft-Solo & Thread- Quartet in February. The next time you can see this is in Sydney, Australia May 14-18!

More coming about modern art, performance art, digital art.....new things from the younger people of Berlin who have been inspired by things happening around the world and in their own country and lives. I will tell of places I have been but check the link now, it is great for giving some listings of such places in Berlin.

Marx & Engels

by barryg23

The statues of the socialists Marx & Engels are examples of the many remaining symbols of East Berlin and are among the most photographed statues in the city,

The statues are in the centre of a large square called Marx-Engels Forum, which is between Alexanderplatz and the river Spree.

Their expressions are rather solemn, perhaps understandably, as they gaze in the direction of Alexanderplatz and the former East Berlin.

Berlin Bears

by barryg23 about Souvenirs

Many souvenir shops in Berlin sell teddy bears - not surprising as the bear is a symbol of Berlin. There are two shops in Nikolaiviertel which sell these bears exclusively. A teddy bear of course! About 10 Euros for the small ones

S-Bahn Ticket

by nessa_gnatoush

Can be bought in the automatic machines almost everywhere. Can be used (as long as valid) in any S-Bahn lines inside the area you choose.

For example, to get to the center from Schonfeld is also costs 2,10 euro as far as this airport is located inside AB-zones.
