getting from Schonefield to NH Berlin-Alexanderplatz and maps

by shida

Hello, I wondered if anyone could please tell me the best way to get from Schonefield airport to NH Berlin-Alexanderplatz on Landsberger Allee.

Also, has anyone got any recommendations for websites where I can find an easy to use map(s) of Berlin.

Many Thanks

From Schoenefeld, take the S-Bahn either to Warschauer Str or Landsberger Allee.

From Landsberger Allee you could take M5, M6 or M8, which is either a bus or a tram running directly in front of NH Berlin-Alexanderplatz.

Fare is 2.20 EUR IIRC.

Hotels Recommendations

by andycheong

Hi, would like to seek any advise regarding the hotel list below,
it seems the original accomodation which i am seeking is out of reach,
hence have to look at the following alternatives.

Hotels list (price without tax):

(1) NH Heinrich Heine at Heinrich Heine Platz 11 (€ 78.00)
(2) NH Berlin Alexanderplatz at Landsberger Allee 26-32 (€ 79.00)
(3) Ramada Hotel Berlin Mitte at Chausseestrasse 118-120 (€ 94.00)
(4) Ramada Plaza Berlin at Prager Strasse 12 (€ 94.00)
(5) NH Berlin Mitte at Leipziger Strasse 106-112 (€ 99.00)
(6) MARITIM proArte Hotel Berlin at Friedrichstrasse 151 (€ 127.00)

Appreciate if any kind soul out there can advise me which of the above hotels are near to my office at "Stromstraße 1 , Berlin, Germany 10555".
Importantly, i guess having easy access to transportation would be important.
If its near good safe tourist spots, or scenic places, it would be a bonus.

thanks in advance.

The Maritim is very central and in Friedrichsstrasse you also have an S-train station if you would like to visit Potsdam etc. outside central Berlin.

Alexanderplatz is also central but less so for when you want to visit the parliament area.

I don't know the other addresses by heart and don't have time to look them up right now.

Numbers 3, 5 and 6 are the nearest to Stromstrasse, probably around 20 minutes by public transport. Tourist spots are easy to reach.

Travel Tips for Berlin

The Funny 'SS' (Double S)

by Pakistaniguy

In German language there is a special symbol to write double S. You will see this very interesting and nice symbol of 'SS' on my street signs in Berlin. I really liked it. Its a bit unusual but nice.

Btw, the name of the street in this picture is 'Voss Strasse'. In English it mean 'Voss Street' :-)

Post offices

by Mandy23

Post offices are typically open from Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm, and on Saturday 8am till 13pm (in general).

There's a wonderful lake...

by greentara

There's a wonderful lake surrounded by forest at a place called Leignitz. So beautiful on a hot summers day to walk through the cool forest then lie in the sun or play ball then jump in the lake to cool off!

Do you need a bag ?

by matcrazy1 about bagAge

It was a very interesting store full of various, mostly casual bags made of plastic, leather or other material by a few companies of which I remember only Diesel and Eastpak. There were shopping bags, handbags, duffel bags, simple sacks and small backpacks (rucksacks) as well. Low or average prices.

Rail

by Kova

The best way around Berlin would be S and U Bahn. First goes above and the other one under. Both are well organized, on time and the signs always tell you which is the next stop, you can't get lost! The last time I was there it costed 2.20 euro for a single ticket, but that might have changed, I am not sure.

They rarly check if people have their ticket, but I would not recommend you to try your luck. If you don't have it and get cought they will make a big deal out of it, you will be charged (I think 40 euro) and if you don't have it on you they call the police. Also, the guy that is cheking tickets is under cover so you won't have a chance to get off.
