Where can I buy ingredients to make Tacos while in Berlin

by graefin

We'll be in Berlin for a few weeks in a Ferienwohnung and would like to invite some people for a Taco Party. Usually we buy ready-made Salsa here in the USA, but we also know how to make a good Salsa.

My question is: Does anyone know where we can buy the following ingredents in Berlin: Large Tacos, Serano Peppers, Cilantro?

OR:

Where would we be able to buy a good Salsa in a jar?

Thank you.

If all else fails, check the food department of KaDeWe, they have (almost) everything.

There are Lidls in Berlin that stock such Mexican items.

And, the smaller supermarkets also sell bottled salsas.

Berlin is a big, international, cosmopolitan city, so you will have no trouble finding these items :-)

I dare to say that every supermarket has the ready-made stuff.

If you decide to make your own salsa, be advised that you have to ask for "Koriander" which is the German word for "cilantro". Always try to get the fresh one (best in fruit and vegetable shops or at produce markets), the dried one just does not do it.

At the “Turk's market” in the Maybachufer in Berlin Neukölln vegetables, Turkish specialities and a lot of spices of different kind too...

The market takes place every Tuesday and Friday between 11.00 and 18.30 o'clock.

The market is at the line 8 (U-Bhf by the subway. To reach Schönleinstrasse).
In addition, the bus 140 holds there. From Kreuzberg from the subway station
Kottbusser Tor accessible.

Travel Tips for Berlin

Saturday afternoon at Hackescher Markt

by Ekaterinburg

There were three stations I hoped to visit in Berlin : Friedrichstrasse, Hamburger and Hackescher Markt. In the end I only got to one, Hackescher Markt Station, just a five-minute tram ride north of Alexander Platz. For train station afficinados this is a big treat, and even if you're not particularly into stations except for transport purposes, I guarantee you'll like this one. It's a lovely, typically 19th century building , very red-brick, as all the best stations are and with some nice decorative details. Walking in from the tram stop there's a vey authentic vibe but outside it is a little bit naff, with orange palm trees and several other decidedly unauthentic details. Most of the arches have been taken over as shops and cafes now and the forecourt has lots of market stalls. After lunch it was very busy and stallholders seemed to be doing a brusque trade. This felt like Berlin to me and I really enjoyed the time I spent here.

Pergamon Altar...

by coceng

This is the Pergamon Altar in Hall 1 in Pergamon Museum.
It's from 164 to 156 BC.
The height is 9.66 m.
This is the most commanding sight in Pergamon Museum !
You can see people sitting on the steps, talking, kissing as if the Pergamon Altar is a modern day town hall.
You should do the same actually....

Food carts

by matcrazy1

Walking around Berlin's central districts I met a few times street vendors equiped with movable food carts. They were usually built on the base of a bicycle and equiped with small grill.

The vendors sold usually hot German sausages (rostbratwurst), pretzels (brezel) and other snacks.

Treptower (business) Park

by diocletianvs

This area on the banks of the river Spree close to Treptower park is perhaps new Docklands of Berlin. New offices and residential buildings occupy an area of former industry and although it may not be the liveliest area of Berlin for me it was a pure pleasure to wander around.

Port cranes and new skyscrapers - wow, what else could I ask for ?

....great bar......BUT>>>>>

by debarramike about Erdbeer
