BERLIN 'FUNK'.... Berlin is a city with a distinct attutide, and one of my favorite examples of this feeling is the city's many 'funky' sculptures, like the one shown here (near Ku'damm Sqaure).

I consider this a hotel. This hotel is extremely economical, consider it's in a fantastic location, within a world capital city. Half block from the Ku'damm. 4-5 minute walk to a main train station. Excellent shopping, restaurant, nightlife on the Ku'damm. Some tourist attractions within walking distance, and everything is reachable by underground train. The room we got was huge, clean, functional but very simple. Breakfast was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Reception is on the 2nd floor. This hotel is not easy to find if you're a tourist, although a cab driver should have no trouble finding it.
There was a very unusual wind storm while we were there and the door to the balcony did not seal completely, so there was a lot (really a lot) of wind noise. This is an old hotel, so this kind of thing should not surprise. This wind storm was extremely unusual.
Unique Quality: Remarkable elevator. Seemed like it was from the 1940s. Excellent location. Very economical.

In Germany taxis always show a black and yellow sign with yellow letters "TAXI" and have the color of ivory. They can be stopped by hand sign or can be called by phone.
