S-Bahn Info Needed

by Archway

I'm finding it a bit difficult to work out lines S41 - S47. I need to go from Bundesplatz to Westend (direct). If I read correctly, I can take the S41 (which runs clockwise) to Westened. However, it also looks as if I can take the S46 and S47, but I'm not sure about this. Can anyone please confirm this?

It seems as if the S42 runs counter-clockwise, so I shall avoid it. I'm only interested in the lines that run clockwise from Bundesplatz to Westend.

Many thanks

Correct. S41 and S42 form the so called Ringbahn. S41 runs clockwise; S42 counter-clockwise.
So you could either catch the S41 or S47.

BVG timetable
From: Bundesplatz
To: Westend

Either S41 or S46.
S 47 ends at Bundesplatz on Mo-Fr. On Sa or Su S47 ends already at Südkreuz.
Thus S 47 is no option to get from Bundesplatz to Westend at all.

According to the network map it is.

Thank you for the info. I think it is best if I stick to just one line that I know will be going in the right direction. I'll get the S41.

Travel Tips for Berlin

Hackesche Höfe

by Mirko

More than 12 years after the...

by DanielF

More than 12 years after the wall fell, you still can remark some differences between people from East and West Berlin. There has been some movility, but I think most people have stayed in their old neighborhoods. After the euphoria of the first years after the reunification, some people in Germany have started to question the way it was done. And, of course, many people in East Germany were disappointed by a Western style life that was not so glittering as the city lights on the other side of the wall announced.

In my opinion, since the reunification, the city is losing the liberal and a little bit anarchic attitude there was before in West Berlin. But of course it is easily understandable: the city has become the capital of the nation again, and people are not in a limit situation as they used to be: an island totally surrounded by the 'enemy'.

Anyway, there is so much history in this city, that your stay will be rewarded with incredible experiences.

St.-Thomas-Kirche, Kreuzberg, 1864-1869

by Kathrin_E

Romanesque but not medieval... The St Thomas Church is one of the earlier examples of 19th century historism. Unlike the majority of churches it doesn't show the gothic but the Romanesque style. The architectural structure is, in fact, still classicist, but facades and decoration show Romanesque elements.
Till 1989 the Wall was right behind the church. The surrounding streets are as much "Kiez" as one might imagine in the wildest fantasies about Kreuzberg.

Date: 1864-1869
Architect: Friedrich Adler
Confession: protestant

Address: Mariannenplatz
Location: in the heart of Kreuzberg
How to get in: open in the daytime

by sabsi about e.g. Winterfeld Platz or Marheineke Platz

There's no better place to experience Berlin way of life than on a food market in Kreuzberg or Schöneberg. The multi cultural atmosphere and the different smells on these markets are wonderful. I love them! Fruit, vegetables, spices, cheese, meat, flowers... whatever! Not a lot!

Tegel is an EASY airport....

by Greggor58

Compared to many modern and large airports I thought Tegel was so easy to find my way around. Its really quite small so you cant have much or any difficulty....after thought....in FACT...because it was so small I guess if I had any problems here it was moving through the compacted crowds of people using the airport.
