People and fish in the Radisson SAS Berlin by iblatt, 2 more photos I stayed in the Radisson during a professional meeting in September 2008. The room was fine, the staff very professional, breakfast good and tasty. There is a huge cylindrical aquarium in the middle of the central space, best visible from the upper floors, which adds to the decor. The location is excellent for visiting the central attractions of Mitte: Museuminsel (museum island) with its world-renowned museums, the cathedral, Unter den Linden, Hackescke Hofe... The hotel is on the Spree river promenade, and the DDR museum is next door. There are several bus lines right near the hotel entrance, and the Hackesche Hofe S-Bahn station is 3 minutes away.
- Good modern facilities, great location near main attractions

 | Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin: Great location, great hotel

We stayed first in a room without a great view, and were later upgraded to a room with view on the aquarium. In the first room there were some minor flaws, such as the AC not working properly, the shower leaking and nasty people next door. After alerting the staff, they promptly booked us to another room, wich was great.
The location is perfect: Alexander Platz is now at the center of everything, and you may reach any other location in town with public transportation in a matter of minutes (unlike if you stay in a hotel in the Zoo area, which nowadays is not that central any more. The rooms are nice, with such amenities as free broadband web access (both wifi and lan, with a cable provided), free indoor swimming pool, large indoor (paying) parking (not to be underestimated in a large city), etc.

 | Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin: You can't help looking at the aquarium

by nonstopexplorer I have stayed in this unique hotel in February 05. Everyone who first visits this hotel is staring at the huge aquarium, 25 meters high, in the middle of the hotel. There are some rooms that look at the aquarium, we were not lucky to get one of them, maybe you should ask when you book. Everything is great in this hotel and it easily gets a place in the top 5 hotels I have ever stayed at. The rooms’ design is great, quality materials are used and attention is given to every detail. Staff is very friendly for the European standards, but cannot be compared to my recent experience in Bali, Indonesia. Small things I liked are that the safe box was big enough for my laptop and that we could see the outside temperature on TV. The only problem is that everything in the hotel is overpriced. - There is cable and wireless internet access at 19 EUR per day! When I’m on holidays I just want to check my emails once or twice a day and I don’t want to pay every day as a much as I pay for my DSL monthly connection at home. And there are no other wireless networks available, so the only alternative is an internet café. - Because of the central location of the hotel the only option to park my car was at the hotel’s parking. I had to pay 1 EUR per hour and 12 EUR for 24 hours. - If breakfast is not included in your booking price, be prepared to pay 21 EUR per person per day. - I made some domestic phone calls and I was charged 3-5 EUR for each one. Similar calls from my Greek mobile phone were less expensive. There is a lift in the middle of the aquarium, but to take it you should visit the nearby sea life museum. The location of the hotel is the best it could be and you can never fail to find it as it is very close to the 368-meter TV tower. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Berlin.

 | Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin: Radisson SAS Berlin - fabulous hotel!!

This is a fabulous hotel!! Highly recommended!! The location is great, the facilities are plenty and the service is flawless throughout the hotel. The hotel is quite large with about 400 rooms surrounding an atrium which has a huge aquarium with 1500 fishes. It is supposed to be the world's largest cylindrical aquarium with an height of 25 meters, very impressive!! I arrived quite late at the hotel and asked if it was possible to get a nicer room as I have a gold card. I was quite astonished at the sight when I opened the door to my "room" and noticed they had not given me a room, but a suite, and not just a suite but one of the best ones they have. Measuring 47 square meters with a great design and with huge panorama windows it was easily the coolest room I have ever stayed in. A huge comfortable bed, two balconies, two flat TVs, three telephones (one wireless!!), a sitting area with a sofa and two armchairs, in the bathroom there were both bathtub and shower and two sinks, and luxury toiletries from Carven in Paris. What else can you ask for?? :) On top of that, a fabulous view of river Spree, the Berliner Dom and the Museum Island. I hardly didn't get any sleep that night as I could not get enough of the view with all historical buildings lit-up right in front of me, even when lying on the bed.
The design of the whole hotel is amazing, especially the lobby and the aquarium called "Aquadom". There are two restaurants and a lobby bar. The breakfast buffet was excellent, everything you'd expect to find and some things you wouldn't expect to find like alcohol in the morning (German sparkling wine). There was a chef working making the omelette of your choice, pancakes and waffles. The price tag for the breakfast was perhaps a bit over the top, but it was very nice indeed. In the basement there is a health club called "splash" with a gym, swimming pool, Japanese washing facilities and three types of saunas. Excellent place!! The showers are operated by a little panel which was very innovative! There is a gift shop in the lobby and of course 24 hour room service. The hotel is within walking distance from Alexanderplatz (where the TV tower is) and the airport bus to Tegel airport stops right outside the entrance.

I stayed at Radisson SAS Berlin in December 2007 - my friend had stayed here before and told me I'd love this hotel - so my expectations were rather high... ;o) I was not disappointed - this certainly is an excellent base for exploring Berlin. This large (427 rooms), 5-star hotel has a perfect location opposite the Berliner Dom and the Museum Island, in the very centre of Berlin - pretty much "everything" is within walking distance. We had a standard double room, which was very nice indeed: modern, stylish, clean and very well equipped. A big, comfy double bed, decent-sized work desk, two chairs and a small table, good-sized TV, minibar, safe, tea- and coffee making facilities - and a large, lovely bathroom. WiFi is available throughout the hotel, free of charge. An excellent breakfast buffet was included - loads of differents breads, cereals, pancakes, waffles, various hot foods (omelettes made to order), cold cuts and cheese, sweet cakes and pastries, salads, fruits, yoghurts... and nice views of the Berliner Dom from the breakfast restaurant. Great! Some rooms have views of the river Spree and the Berliner Dom - others (like ours!) have views of the hotel lobby and the quite fabulous AquaDom: a 25 metres high, cylindrical salt water aquarium with colourful tropical fish. (It is supposedly the world's largest cylindrical aquarium - with 2500 fish) For the best views, ask for a room on one of the higher floors. Most definitely highly recommended.
