    Schoenhouse Apartments

    by

As there were 8 of us, we decided that self-catering was the best way to go.

The apartments were GORGEOUS! If I could have an apartment like the one we had, I would be so happy :)

Unique Quality: We had cable TV, wireless internet, coffee machine, dishwasher, big bathroom, and two bedrooms. The location is great, it is only 10 mins walk from Alexanderplatz.

Directions: U2 Rosa Luxembourg Platz, cross the street and it is a brief walk up Schönhauser Allee

RE: best place to stay, please

Pension Bregrenz is close to a subway station, and even Zoo Station should be within walking distance.

Schoenhouse Apartments are located on the edge of the boroughs of Mitte and Prenzlauer Berg, so you won't have any trouble finding a subway, tram or S-Bahn station.

Safety is a non-issue anyway, so you can't go wrong with either choice.

The main difference is that Wilmersdorf is a somewhat conservative district (for the lack of better words), whereas Mitte is well ... different. Sure, you'll find restaurants and bars in Wilmersdorf, but Mitte and the less touristy (and less expensive) Prenzlauer Berg are more vibrant and at the same time slow paced compared to the more business/shopping-street oriented Wilmersdorf.
In Wilmersdorf, you are in the heart of the (former) West, close to Kurfürstendamm and Savigny Platz, in Mitte you're in the heart of the (former) East and close to Hackesche Höfe, and Museums Island and closer to Brandenburg Gate as well.

(You be the judge, I'm just giving hints on what to expect.)

But, as I said, both are good picks, and using public transport, you can quickly be at either spot.
