Go to the Oranienburger...
by BlueShadow
Go to the Oranienburger Straße...It's a street full of cafe's and kneipen....specially visit 'Tacheles'...it's a building that have not been restaured after the war and right now you can find there, gallery, cafe, garten haus, garten, theather...and much more.... The most I miss is the spirit from the city....it's a total contradiction that in it's own way is Unic and Perfect!...The people in Berlin are the most beautyful in Europe...
Berlin Tip
by greentara
I think a memory i shall never forget is being invited to a friends bbq on a rooftop over looking east berlin and when i write rooftop that's exactly what i mean no balcony etc. It was absolutely amazing just sitting on a roof with music playing, friends chatting and laughing around you, the wonderful smell of meat grilling, little candles in glass jars flickering and as far as you could see Berlin all around you, if you lay back and looked up, the sky slowly turned from blue to black, not missing one shade inbetween!
Graveyards
by mccrorj
My wife and I must be a little morbid as we tend to visit graveyards (friedhof in Berlin) there a number of very beautiful memorials throughout the city but a must visit is the old Jewish cemetry in Mitte just down from Sophienkirche. This is a quiet location right in the heart of the city and a must visit for anyone trying to get to grips with the jewish history in the city. It only amounts to a half hour detour but a rewarding one.
What a monument
by matcrazy1
This monument (of Admirality or so, I suppose) on my picture stood on the crossroads of Admiralstraße and Kohlfurter Straße. Its cement, sand-glass in shape, base was covered by "unfriendly" graffiti.
It was NOT my favourite part of Berlin and Kreuzberg. There were numerous ugly buildings around - blocks (built probably in 70' of 20th century) which formed anonymous concrete jungle.
Good night out
by Imbi about Neu Zeit
Something else different is Monday evening when you pay for your drinks by the hour. When you enter the club, you receive a card with the time stamped on it. Your drinks will then set you back EUR 4. per hour. The Monday DJs play a mixture of new wave and dark wave.
