Visit the Reichstag.It is the place where our parliament is discussing. In 1999 it was open to the public (in summer) and I thik it was so in 2000. I´m not sure if it you can visit the dome all day. But try it.

Do Hotels Charge By the Person?
I was interested in booking a room in Berlin and was wondering, do the hotels charge extra per person, or is it just a single hotel rate?

Yes they charge. Generally, hotels charge by the room required and hostels per person. So hotels won't allow you to book a single room and cram someone else in for free! 2 people will be in a double, 3 in a triple. Your rate will be for a double or triple etc.

Memorials - First "Wall" Victim, Gunter Litfin
24 year-old Gunter Litfin was trying to swim across the Spree Canal when he was shot and killed by Border Guards on 24 September, 1961. He was the first "wall-jumper" to be killed by gunfire, one of about 250 Berliners who lost their lives trying to cross from East to West during the 28-year history of the wall.
The marker commemorating Litfin's death is on the western side of the Invalidenstrasse Bridge, just across from the Hamburger Bahnhof.
Peace & Quiet in the City
Across the road from the Brandenbuger Tor starts the Tiergarten Park, stretching for miles, until it ends at the Zoo. There are many Kilometers of walks in the Park, some lovely lakes and streams, several monuments, lovely areas of grass to relax on, and many, many photo opportunities. It's very peaceful. even though it's always busy.

Strandbad Mitte
This was a Beer "Garden" which a difference as it was a Beer Beach! Found alongside the river in Mitte this is the Strandbad Mitte.
** Update ** - Just got back from Berlin (Dec/Jan 05) and all that appears to be left of this place is some sand. Shut down for ever?
