More about Spreebogen Hotel Berlin

Bundeskanzleramt

by elgin99

The Bundeskanzleramt (Chancellor's Office) is a new building in the government area at the Spree in Berlin-Tiergarten.
The spectacular and monumental building ensemble of the new Federal Chancellery in the Berlin Spreebogen was planned by the Berlin architect Axel Schultes and could be obtained in 2001. With a total area of 12,000 m ² and a height of 36 m and one of the biggest government headquarters of the world is (8 times as big as the White House in Washington). The building also has living spaces next to the workrooms for the Chancellor. Chancellor Angela Merkel further prefers to live in her private flat opposite to the Museumsinsel. Your predecessor Gerhard Schröder used the premises also only during the working weeks while his family lived in Hanover.

Walk Along the River Spree

by RhineRoll

I did this walk one sunny evening after my business in the Home Affairs Ministry was done. You can walk from the post-modern facades of the Spreebogen all the way along the Spree past the Chancellor's Office, the Swiss Embassy and the old new Parliament Buildings. At the Reichstag, you can either contine or take a more direct route into the old and new inner city with the Brandenburg Gate, the Unter den Linden Boulevard and the quarters around the Berlin Dom (Cathedral). There is so much to see, so many exciting things going on all the time!

I still know this area when it was empty no-mans land on the Western side and deadly border territory on the Eastern side. How fascinating to witness how this area has become the new city centre!

With a couple of smaller detours, this walk is also accessible to wheelchair users.

The New Train Station

by heitzenrater

Well i know it's just a "train-station", but the germans i toured with were very proud of their new train station. I figured not many train station posts, so here goes. The new building in Spreebogen, which is the largest and most modern crossing station in Europe. When you see it you will know it. It's effectively combines striking architecture with the mobility requirements of the 21st century.
The architecture is flooded with light do to the fact that the exterior is made of glass. The arched structures across the Stadtbahn catch the eye. Every day, some thousand long-distance, regional and rapid transit trains stop at the 14 platforms on two different levels. So their is a lot of area occupied.

IF YOU LIKE MY POST PLEASE GIVE POSITIVE FEEDBACK, THANKS.

Some Mixed Berlin Pictures

by RhineRoll

I've been to Berlin gazillions of times because my father's family hails from there and I've still got an aunt who lives there. My recent travels usually are business-oriented as I work for an agency of the Home Affairs Ministry which you can see in this picture. It is situated right on the River Spree, in the so-called Spreebogen complex.

Hotel and City Tourh for Berlin

by techants

Hi Guys,

I will be in Berlin for about a day. To be specific, I will reach there at around 3 PM and depart next morning at 8am. Since it is a very short period, I would like to utilize it best way possible and need your help on:

1. Please help me out with the hotel which is right next to the train station as I need to catch a morning train to Prague.
2. It would be great if the hotel is a clean one but cheap.
3. Any tour guide who provides city tour that starts around 5 pm.

Thank you.

Can't help with hotel because I stayed free on points, but if you can make it to the tour site by 4 pm, here's a tour we took which was excellent - and fun!

There's still nothing around the new central station as this is where the former Wall was.

Hotel Spreebogen is a 4*-hotel one S-Bahn stop away:

Hotel Mercure an der Charité is an ugly 3* hotel a ten-minute walk away, but there's a bus, too:

Since you wanted a cheap hotel are and only going to stay for one day, this one would probably be best.

As for touring Berlin, you could also simply hop on the bus 100 or 200. Both link Zoo Station with Alexanderplatz and come across most of Berlin's main sights. These are the usual double-decker buses, so a standard ticket (EUR 2.10 last time I was in Berlin) will be valid.
A discription of the route can be found here:
