This is probably my favorite hostel in Berlin, 5’ walk from Alexanderplatz, it’s very handy especially when we come late at night from Schonefeld. I used Hostelworld.com to book the room.
The rooms are very clean, big but with no special decoration (it’s a hostel anyway). There are clean common bath/wc on each floor, we had no problem with that too.
The best thing with this hostel is that the groundfloor is actually a pub (pic 2)! The first time we entered the hostel we tried for some minutes to understand where the reception was, so guess what it was the man behind the bar!
So, it’s great here to meet other travelers, drink something, eat and have fun all night, especially after all dayt long walks in the city when you just need a beer.
The breakfast is served there, it’s typical buffet breakfast (cheese, egg, cerials, milk etc) but we didn’t say no :)
Directions: Rosa Luxemburg station is in front of the hostel, Alexanderplatz is the next station or just 5' walking away
The location is very good, close to Alexanderplatz, TV tower, and easy acces to Rosa de Louxenburg Metro Station.
The apartments are very clean, as the toilettes.
The bar is amazing. The internet conection works very well.
I strongly recomend this place for people looking for cheap and agreable accomodation.
Unique Quality: Close to a Uban station - Rosa de Luxembourg Platz
Directions: Rosa de Luxenbourg Platz Uban Station
I chose the Circus because of its great rate but it offered much more and I enjoyed my stay.
Can't remember the exact rate for a dorm room, 15 Euros I think. It's run very efficiently by a group of young people who come from various countries but have lived in Berlin long enough to know the szene and everything.
I got good advice on arrival as to where to park the car safely for a few days, a big plus right there!
The next best thing is that there's no curfew.
The staff is very helpful with maps and directions to what's not to be missed. They were most useful in making Hostel reservations for me at my next destination. They'll make sure you have a place to go to, even if it takes a few phone calls.
There's a sort of kitchen area but I didn't use it. I prefer going out to eat when I can, it's a downer to watch everyone eating their spaguetti alone and somewhat morosely. The Circus will tell you of a great little café next door (Anna's or something) where they serve a good breakfast. Do go in there, even at night, it's a great place to meet people.
Dorms are mixed and everything was fine.
Internet station in the lobby. You can buy snacks and beer from the reception and everybody smokes. I only saw one ashtray though so be quick to grab it when you're starting a session on the Net.
Great location, near Torstrasse, which has a lot of cultural activities going on, especially at night. There's a great repertory cinema on Torstr., within walking distance of the Circus (name to follow.)
Got it! Nickelodeon * Kino, Torstrasse 216, Berlin-Mitte.
The building on the pic is the People's Theater Association, apparently created by the Socialists between the two world wars. It was popular with directors, actors, personalities, and people in general. It's one way to find your way back to the Circus easily, as it's just across the street.
Directions: Mitte, at Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz U-Bahn
