Somehow I am almost sure you may have seen this in another Berlin forum, but in case you did not here it is again......
Although I am mainly a reggae freak, I do like some good ol' blues where I find it. Berlin is likely the heart of the music scene in Europe.
Try the Ratskeller Kopernick. they have a Jazzkeller or Jazzcellar, that you may like.

Here is a list of many of the jazz/blues clubs in Berlin as well as other cities.

There are many good straight up night clubs in Berlin. Here is a list of the ten best. The Knaack Club is a great place with after hours. Sorry for the long link but it is the translation you see.......d:o)

The Quasimoto Cafe is one of Berlin's oldest jazz/blues cellars in Berlin. A great place man! Again the link is long as it is translated....

Travel Tips for Berlin
Shopping !!
by michellebaker
Shopping in Berlin is fabulous - from Ka-De-We (the German version of Harrods) along to C&A - they have some great shops.
There is about three blocks of great shopping - mostly department stores - but they are really nice and fairly well priced (C&As are a bargain though you have to watch as they are still putting in shoulder pads!!).
We stayed in the Swissotel which is directly above C&As and was very convenient for shopping on the West side of Berlin.
The East side is not as 'shiny' though they do have some good shops, like galleries lafayette and there is a street called Friederickstrasse which has a lot of designer type shops. The East doesn't feel as nice, particularly at night when there does not appear to be any street lights!
If you go during December there are Christmas markets everywhere which are lovely, and you will pick up some nice and unusual balls for your tree etc. The markets are in both East and West side. The best are on the East side though! Berlin Zoo is incredible - and if you are in Berlin for a Sunday (everything is shut on a Sunday, no matter what time of year including Christmas!) but the Zoo is open.
The zoo is lovely - it is like a big open park, like Hyde park or Central park but with animals - they have not used fences as much - using ditches instead, which means you are really close to the animals. They have a big aquarium with tropical and marine fishes. There is also a large section on reptiles etc.
We went to a concert at the Velodrome which is about 2kilometers from Alexandersplatz. The taxi driver got a little lost!! This is also on the East side - and I would not consider walking to or from this venue - there are also not a lot of taxis available when you come out, unless you walk a way up the road!
BERLIN is fabulous and a great place for a couple of days - avoid Sundays unless you want to go to the zoo!!

Balloon and landmarks of Berlin
by matcrazy1
The Berlin's skyline was dominated by TV Tower (Fernsehturm in German) but there was also this huge balloon - advertisement of SAT1 TV channel - well seen on the sky. I didn't see any balloons with visitors onboard in Berlin.
Instead of the TV tower there are at least 3 other landmarks of Berlin:
1. Kaiser Wilhelm Ged?chtniskirche (Emperor William Memorial Church),
2. Berlin's bears - available in all... souvenir stores/stalls,
3. Branderburger Gate (Branderburger Tor).
Old architecture
by matcrazy1
I would never guess what was inside this old neo-classic in style building on my picture. It was the entrance to a metro/subway station (U-bahn Wittenbergplatz: U1, U2, U15). It was the last underground station, father east the metro went over ground.
The Mitte
by Alex_71 about Everywhere around you
I'm not going to tell you to choose a place instead of another. Just take a look in the "Mitte" area..it's the most important area of Berlin for locals, pubs, restaurnats and so on. I think it's very very touristic (too much) but if you are a tourist, at least, you must pass from here one night.
I eat somewhere around here (and indian restaurant)..not bad but not good. I prefer the other restaurant i wrote in my tips here..anyway for nightlife the Mitte area is a must As you wish..elegant and formal, but also very casual..it can change by the club you decide to go in
