The Sunflower Hostel

We stayed here for two nights in 2002. I travelled around many countries in Europe and this is probably the best hostel that I have ever stayed in. The staff were very friendly as were the other guests. We met up witha couple of New Zealanders and an Australian and ended up drinking with them into the early hours of the morning! When I return to Berlin I will be sure to stay here again.

Directions: Berlin Friedrichshain

This is a great place right in the heart of Friedrichshain, one of the more happening parts of town. It's on a quite side street and the rooms are comfortable and clean.

Unique Quality: The staff was friendly and spoke English. The lobby had a great atmosphere and though a bit smoky (there is no smoking in the rooms!), looked a great place to hang out. The bathrooms were interestingly/warmly decorated and very functional with great showers. A double was $45 and dorm space was $15. It's well located, just a short walk to the S-Bahn that will bring you to the center in ten minutes.

Directions: Just a five minute walk from the Warschauer-Strasse S-Bahn station.
