Good and budget places to eat close to some places, shopping
by 68maciek
Hello,
Which are the closest budget but good 'fuel stations' to such places:
Pergamon Museum
(I'm thinking about Coa)
Technology Museum
Natural History Museum
The Wall Document Center at Bernauer Str.
Skate Halle at Warschauer St. (I'm thinking about Nil).
I'am interested in something different from my country cuisine. I believe that Polish kitchen is quite similar to German. But perhaps you have different opinions.
Where to find the good place for currywurst?
I also have considered such places as: Babel, Currywurst36, Papaya am Kleistpark,IXTHYS.
What do you think? Any better ideas?
Shopping
Where can my teenage daughter hunt for clothes on sale just after Christmas?
Thanks in advance and Merry Christmas,
Maciek

Hey Maciek - street eats are best for the wurst LOL ;) For a sit down the atmospheric under the arches Nolle is well worth a visit - http://www.antikmarkt-berlin.de/Restaurant_Nolle.108.0.html?&L=1
Germany will be a home from home for you - loads of sausages, cabbage and good beer - enjoy!
Shopping - check out the malls at Alexanderplatz.

> Pergamon Museum
Somewhere under the S-Bahn Arcs between the museum and Friedrichstraße
> Technology Museum
Technikmuseum? There isn't so much around, really. Of course the museum has a restaurant, but I have no idea if it is worth to spend time (and money) there.
> The Wall Document Center at Bernauer Str
Same here: Not much around in the near vicinity.
I'd suggest to try the area around Zionskirche. Reliably good (and affordable at noon) would be Nola's am Weinberg.
> Natural History Museum
This would translate into Naturhistorisches Museum, but there is no such kind. I suppose you meant to say Naturkundemuseum? In this case try a restaurant at the nearby Chausseestraße, such as "Speisezimmer" (in the evening; @daytime: only salad, pasta and some vegetarian food).
> Skate Halle at Warschauer St
No idea. But Simon-Dach-St. is close. Just walk down the street and check out what's there.
> good place for currywurst
"Currywurst" and "good" don't mix well. Well known would be Konopke. They have recently moved to Eberswalder St. subway station.
> Where can my teenage daughter hunt for clothes on sale
There won't be much clothes on sale before end of January.
Schloßstraße, Friedrichst. and Kurfürstendamm/Tauenziehnst. host the usual suspects. The area around Neue Schönhauser Allee and Rosenthaler St. is known for smaller boutiques.

Turtleshell- thanks a lot. These are exactly places that I meant. But you know, it was quite late.Even if German names of the places were not so difficult it was somehow easier to write my poor English eqvivalents of them. Thanks for your tips (I'm glad that is not much on sales hahaha). Enjoy Christmas and New Year.

hate to say this but when I was there I found Burger King/Hungry jacks to be cheap and handy!...a good excuse as I love their burgers (usually limit myself to something like a yearly splashout) but as I didnt have much time and it was still open at 3 in the morning and they were cheap I had to!

Travel Tips for Berlin
Berlin Babel
by kristipi
It's a great city for artists, the cost of living is low and the food is diverse! The people are friendly (mostly) and a google maps image of the city shows green everywhere! I am in the process of moving here and think it rocks! I'll add more soon but in the mean time, I have also been working on my berlin and travel web pages
http://berlinbabel.blogspot.com/ and www. byworldofmouth.com the Obama rally/ election night part in mitte... so many people showed up, it was inspiring!

GO TO St.hedwigs Cathedral.
It is the first catholic episcopal cathedral, built according to plans by von Knobelsdorff, was fully destroyed during the second World War and rebuilt 1952-1963.
( NOTE: IT is one stop of bus 100, you can arrive this place easily by bus 100.)

Apart from mostly expensive stores along main shopping streets there were many worth visiting smaller and inexpensive stores located just around the corner. Usually they were not so easy to find out. Sometimes there were large advertisements and direction signs put on the walls of houses just like this one on my picture showing the way to large second hand store "Garage" at Ahornstraße.
Rathaus Steglitz
by barryg23
I stopped in Steglitz for a coffee on my way to Potsdam. It's an affluent, residential area in south-west Berlin. My guidebook didn't say much at all about Steglitz so I'm not really sure what there is to see here. The distinctive Rathaus was the most eye-catching building in the area. I'd like to have spend time wandering around but had to leave soon after for Potsdam.
Fresh fruits and vegetables
by matcrazy1 about Birlik Market
The company called Birlik Market and run by a Turk, sells fresh fruits and vegetables from tables put along Potsdamerstra?e. There are mostly common fruits and vegetables, I mean non-exotic ones. Some of them were sold at low, discount price. Fresh fruits and vegetables. Average prices. For example in February apples cost 1.00 - 2.00 ? per kilo, oranges 0.99 ? per kilo, tomatoes 2.10 ? per kilo.
