I'm going to be in berlin for Christmas Eve, Christmas day and boxing day - Which places are open, or are there any events happening?

On my first visit to Europe we attended a Church service in a Cathedral on Christmas Eve and it was fantastic, I am not Catholic but the service was lovely and a children,s choir sang.

There are over 50 markets which have quite a variety of activities on offer. Besides being able to enjoy delicious sweets, you can also find concert performances. Below I´ve listed a few of the markets available and what they have on offer:

This market is situated near one of the most well known shopping streets in Berlin, the Kurfürstendamm.

In the East the red and green men of the traffic lights were much cuter than what we have in Western Europe it seems. In East Germany at least!
Make sure to watch out for these. They are manufacturing them again, so they will not die an extinction, but it's worth a photo or two.

If you are walking around Berlin and you are not very sure if you are on the ex-Eastern side or the ex-Western side, here you are a tip: on the Eastern Side pedestrian traffic lights have different icons. You only have to look at the photo.
Si vas paseando por Berlin y no estas muy seguro de si vas por el lado ex-oriental o por el ex-occidental, aqui tienes una pista: en el lado oriental los semaforos de peatones tienen iconos diferentes. Solo tienes que mirar la foto
I think this is really off the beaten path but I love the architecture of teh Universal Building!!! It´s next to the Oberbaumbruecke and I only found it cause I went in the wrong direction....luckily I must say!
