Travel Tips for Caputh
Caputh Church
by MD2nd
The Caputh Church lies in front or close to the Caputh Schloss. The church is surrounded by its small, quiet and idyllic "church park". Around 1845 when Caputh's population has grown up to 1100 inhabitants, King Frederick William IV, did orders to build a new church, he wanted to have every inhabitant a seat. There is evidence that the King itself helped with building this Caputh Church. The solemn inauguration took place then, in his presence on the 8. February 1852.

Albert Einstein exhibit
by MD2nd
1927 had Albert Einstein the architect Konrad Wachsmann built him a wooden cottage in classical modern style. This beautiful summer residence located in Caputh, made Einstein calling for his (now very famous word) "Come' to Caputh, and forget about the world" (to his late son).
Now, this Albert Einstein exhibit in Caputh, about its seasonal resident Albert Einstein, is kept very small (two rooms up stairs of Buergerhaus Caputh) with no "special effects" at all but nicely and informative reduced to the very essentials of Einstein, his life & genius.
Very little yet is said (& known?) about Einstein's neglect of his first child (& first wife Marie?). Einstein's mother is against his second relationship (later marriage) with Mileva as she thinks that this young lady does not fit in a respectable family. One reason for the rejection is Milevas limp due to her disability. However, Einstein eventually spent the rest of his life w/cousin Elsa, he married to be his third wife.

Street Of Unity - Strasse Der Einheit
by MD2nd
Reunified Germany! Caputh's Street Of Unity is named for the Fall Of The Wall on November 9, 1989. Only October 3, 1990 yet did sign Germany for unification. That day marks German unity with its big celebration on each October 3, and - thank God - the collapse of former GDR. Not too sure whether Germans have over come any east-west divide yet - even though it's 20 years since the fall of the wall. I for certain do hope and wish so!
Rent a hummer
by MD2nd
That's the shop I mentioned on my Caputh entry page. To me it I feels always good there where an American flag is flying as it does at that pocketbike-quad-shop in Caputh. Haven't been in the shop though - unfortunately. Guess, if I ever go "wild" I gonna rent me a hummer in Caputh, and some camping ground in Geltow.
Take a swim
by MD2nd
It takes about a 10 mns drive from Caputh to Koepenick district Rahnsdorf (buses and subway do connect as well), there one can find "Strandbad Mueggelsee". Entry is free, the area is kept natural yet offers not just the swim in its lovely lake but a large beach, pure green grass, and many activities such as beach ball etc. When I stopped by "Strandbad Mueggelsee" at a rather rainy day, the chilly weather kept beach & lake empty. A very nice lady (guess part of the guards there) showed me around yet. That's what I learned earlier: Brandenburg locals are very friendly and welcoming!! - Parking place is very comfortable so I rather recommend to visit there by car.
