Hiya!

What's the quickest way to get to Potsdam from the Belin Tegel Airport? Is it possible to get there without having to pass through Berlin?

Appreciate your tips!

Belvedere on the Klausberg

by magor65

Belvedere on the Klausberg hill was the last construction that Frederick the Great had built (1770 -1772). The word 'Belvedere' means in fact a pretty view and the name was chosen because of the nice view the place offered over the Sanssouci park.
Built on a round floor plan, the building is surrounded by two levels of columns. The dome at its top is decorated with figures of some divinities.
Belvedere was heavily destryed during WWII and recently rebuilt.
It is a venue of some concerts and theatrical performances. When we visited it an amateur (?) drama group had its rehearsal here.

Schloss Sanssouci

A few kilometers from Berlin is a magnificent Baroque style palace - Schloss Sanssouci. It was built by King Frederich the Great as his summer palace in Potsdam as a retreat from busy Berlin. What is remarkable about this palace is the terraced gardens that leads down to a circular fountain. The gardens of the palace span 287 acres and can take a whole day to explore.
