Neighboring districts are (from the south clockwise) Barnim and Oberhavel, the districts Mecklenburg-Strelitz and Uecker-Randow in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and to the east Poland (Police County and Gryfino County). The district is the largest district of Germany areawise
