Pinsion Altenkirch: Inviting location

Haven't tried it yet though, it sure looks inviting, doesn't it? And the day the picture was taken they had rooms available/Zimmer Frei.

Inviting and good location close to the Rhine.

Pension Kunz, in center of Assmannshausen: Good, quiet Pension

Nice Pension across from the Catholic church. When my other favorite is booked I inquire here. English may not be fluently spoken here but, communication is no problem, they understand what you are looking for.

Breakfast was included with the room. It is a small Pension, possibly three nice rooms. It is also quiet. Some of the hotels on either side of the Rhine River can be noisy due to all night train traffic. Not the case here it is very quiet.

Gasthof-Schuster: Nice quiet location in a quaint village.

A pleasent small hotel well appointed and maintained. Quiet location, a short 4 minute walk from the Assmannshausen train platform, there really isn't a station, just a platform.

We have stayed here several times and it has a good restaurant with a good breakfast. The Rhine river is only a 400 meter walk. Also you can take the chair lift up to see the Niederwalddenkmal / National Monument and down the other side to Ruedesheim. Assmannshausen is a 4 minute train ride from Ruedesheim where most of the American and Japanese tourists are. Also, if you can't find what you are looking for in Assmannshausen, for further shopping. This hotel is also quiet. Some of the hotels on either side of the Rhein River can be noisy due to all night train traffic. Not the case here it is very quiet, you don't hear a thing.

Hotel Krone: A great hotel

This a 5* hotel and it's a great hotel! It's an historical palace (it seems to be in a castle, with the wooden creaking floor, the ancient armours, the big tapestries and the animals'heads on the wall) built in 1541 in front of the river a,divided in 2 palaces:the main building and a sort of dependance. The rooms are very beautiful, well fournished and clean with modern bathrooms. The restaurants (with a great range of local wines) is very good too.
You can also enjoy a great view on the Rhein river. The only disadvantages are the insects(but the river...) and the very close railway : many trains all over the day...and the night!
It's situated in Assmannshausen,a very very very small village 1,5 Km far from the more famous Rudesheim am Rhein.

Great restaurant!I had the best dinner in Germany here, very very good! But it wasn't very cheap...
